As most of the sport competitions across the globe in the previous season, the DELO EHF Champions League did not finish as we all hoped due to the Covid-19 outbreak. However, the EHF and EHF Marketing invested time during the break to prepare for the forthcoming together. season with the aim of developing the competition as the benchmark event in the indoor PEOPLE sports market. There will be no qualification rounds or tournaments before. The top four teams in think each group will then qualify directly for the quarter-finals with teams finishing in seventh and eighth place eliminated. The four remaining teams from each group (3rd-6th) will qualify for a play-off round, before progressing to the quarter-finals and then the EHF FINAL4. In addition, from the start of this season, fans will have an ‘appointment to view’ each week, responsibly. and with no overlap of men’s and women’s top competitions. DELO EHF Champions League will be played on Saturday (at 16:00 and 18:00 CEST/CET) and Sunday (at 14:00 and 16:00 CEST/CET), with Wednesdays and Thursdays set aside for the EHF Champions League Men. After a long break, all 16 teams will be eager to be back playing at the highest level of European handball with the beginning of an exciting journey with a brand-new winners’ trophy as the prize at the competition’s conclusion. The line-up in both groups speak volumes about the quality of all squads and, even though there might be some favourites and underdogs on the paper, this competition’s history has already proven many times that surprising results can be expected on a daily basis. CSM Bucharest is back in the top tier inter-clubs European competition, DELO EHF Champi- ons League and the first game is scheduled this Sunday, September 13, against Metz Handball. Our girls play their first game at home in the 1st Group of the DELO EHF Champions League 2020-2021 season. In the same group we will find FTC-Rail Cargo Hungaria, Rostov-Don, Vipers Kristiansand, Team Esbjerg, SG BBM Bietigheim and Krim Mercator. Only the first two teams will qualify for the quarterfinals, while the rest will take part in the competition’s Play-Offs. The CSM Bucharest - Metz Handball encounter is becoming a tradition in the DELO EHF Champions League, the teams playing each other four times in the past two seasons. Two of the matches took place in the quarterfinals of the 2018-2019 season, where the french side took home both wins, 31-26 in Bucharest and 23-22 in Metz. The following season the two teams met in the Main Round and CSM managed to win big in Bucharest, 32-27, with Cristina Neagu scoring 14 goals. The away game slipped away from CSM as Metz won 28-26. This match means a new beginning for our club in DELO EHF Champions League, but unfortu- nately it also marks the first game without our great fans that earned their respect all across Europe through their fair-play and great attitude shown in the stands. Given the present circumstances, the team is ready for a fresh start and is looking forward to the big challenge that the DELO EHF Champions League brings. Think sport can bring PEOPLE together.
