Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering and winter Sports (JIM & WS) is a joint venture between Ministry of Defence, Government of India and Department of Tourism Govt. of J&K. Headquarter of the Institute is located at Nunwan, Pahalgam and sub centers at Bhaderwah (Doda), Sanasar (near Patnitop), Shey (Leh) and one adhoc sub centre at Gulmarg for skiing courses. Over last 28 years the Institute has excelled in different adventure activities like Mountaineering, Skiing, Paragliding, Rescue, Expeditions, Water Rafting, short term Adhoc Adventure Courses and Mountain & Tourist Guide courses. 2. This Institute conducted adventure courses for students of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan Jammu region at Pahalgam, Sanasar and Bhaderwah in 2010. 3. It is to inform you and all the Principals of concerned Kv’s that the Adventure Course for your students will be conducted at this end as per the scheduled enclosed along with venue of the course as appx “A”. 4. All the Principals are requested ensure to follow up of the date schedule, venue and the instructions given below while sending the students for the said course. (a) Full fee of the course should be deposited on arrival. (b) Students should bring personal items like trekking shoes, civil dress, water bottle and sun glasses, rest of the needful like trek suits, T shirt, cap, training equipment and bedding will be provided with good lodging and boarding facility. (c) The course strength should be at least 40 students or more per school (preferably 60% girls and 40% boys). (d) If more students are interested then all the principals are requested to demand more courses in advance and organize in phases/batches. 5. This is for your information and early necessary action please. 6. JIM & WS will give rebate of Rs. 50/- per student per day for KV Schools, and will charge Rs.450/- only per student per day. 7. Also, Rule 5 of the BMWM Rules, 2016 stipulates that it is the duty of every Operator of a Common Bio-medical Waste Treatment Facility (CBMWTF) to establish bar code system for handling of bio-medical waste in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Central Pollution Control Board, by 27.03.2019. “Guidelines for Bar Code System for Effective Management of Bio-medical Waste” prepared by Central Pollution Control Board, Delhi in April, 2018, is to facilitate and provide guidance to both the Occupier as well as Operator of CBMWTF to establish bar code system and also to have uniformity in adoption of the bar code system throughout the country, thereby ensuring effective enforcement of the BMWM Rules, 2016.

With the objectives to understand the richness, assemblages and guild structure of the bird communities in the contagious habitats around Jammu, we carried out the organized avian surveys from January 2017 to December 2017. During this study, 207 species of birds belonging to 63 families and 16 orders were recorded from six contrasting habitats (aquatic and terrestrial). Order Passeriformes (35 families) and family Muscicapidae (17 species) numerically dominated the area. The protected areas and semi disturbed landscapes revealed higher species richness while the moderately disturbed aquatic habitats reflected higher dominance. Based on our observations, 89 birds were found migratory and 10 as globally threatened. The baseline information so generated will prove handy in devising conservation and management plan for birds around Jammu.
