This is traditionally attributed to Rawan, the King of Lanca, who is considered a great devotee of Shiva. It is believed that Ravana composed a stotram, praising Shiva and pleading for mox. Stotra's verse is in Asthi Chanda. It has 16 syllables per line of quatrains, with laghu (short syllable) and guru (long syllable) characters alternating; The poetic meter is the iambic octameter by definition. There are 16 quadruplets in total. Both the ninth and tenth quatrains of this hymn end with lists of Shiva's epithets as a destroyer, even the destroyer of death itself. Alliteration and Onmatopoea create rolling waves of loud beauty in this example of Hindu devoted poetry. In the final quartet of the poem, after a tiresome rampage across the earth, Ravana asks, When will I be happy? because of the intensity of his prayers and the ascetic meditation exemplified by this hymn, Ravana received from shiva's forces and a celestial sword called Chandrahas. [5] [6] [7] The story is that Ravana, a devotee of Shiva who was also king of Lanca, tried to take Kailas, Shiva's abode, on Lanca in his shoulders. So Shiva, who wanted to teach him a lesson, put his big nose on Kailas, causing him to fall over Ravana. Aware of Shiva's strength and agony, he ripped out his intestines and played a tune and sang praise dedicated to Shiva, which eventually became known as the Shiva Tandava Stotram Origin of the word Tandava Word Tandava in Shiva Tandava comes from the word Tandul, which means jumping. Tandava is a dance that is performed with great energy and strength. Bouncing with force makes the mind and brain powerful. Usually men perform Tandava. Ravana's story is considered a devotee of Lord Shiva. Ravana, whom we know by the name of Lancapati, is Kuber's brother, from whom he grabbed Lanca to become king of Lanca himself. After becoming Lancapati, Ravana thought he was invincible. One day Ravana was going to Lanka, and then on the way saw Mount Kailas. But even after millions of attempts, Ravana's plane was unable to climb Mount Kailas. That's when Ravana saw the bull Nandy. When Ravana asked Nandi why he could not cross Mount Kailas, he said that the mountain was the abode of Shiva Parvati, so that no stranger could climb it. In pride, Ravana considered it an insult and angrily tried to uproot the mountain with all his hands. That's why this mountain started to move badly. Seeing this situation Parvati, Parvati got nervous and complained to Shiva. So Shiva, who wanted to teach him a lesson, laid his big burden on Kailas, causing him to collapse over Ravana, Ravana's hand pressed to the mountain, after which he groaned in pain and began to apologize. Realizing Shiva's power and snatching from agony, he tore out his intestines, performed a melody and sang praise dedicated to Shiva, who was eventually known as Shiva Tandava Stotram. Then Lord Shiva was pleased with his devotion and gave him blessings.
