On Tour – Europe & the UK – March/April 2014 Tish Hinojosa (Austin, TX) with special guest Anny Celsi (Los Angeles, CA) Two acclaimed American artists present an acoustic pop/roots evening celebrating one of America’s most cherished art forms – songwriting. San Antonio-born Tish Hinojosa has long been one of Texas’ national treasures. She has drawn numerous critical accolades for her borderless approach to music, blending Mexican folk and country music with a modern singer/songwriter sensibility and touches of pop. With accolades that include playing at the White House at the invitation of President Clinton and Hillary Clinton, Linda Ronstadt recording her own version of Tish’s song Donde Voy, and teaming up with artists like Joan Baez, Kris Kristofferson, Dwight Yoakam, Nanci Griffith, Pete Seeger, Flaco Jimenez, and Los Lobos, Hinojosa’s sound has an undeniable and far-reaching appeal. Tish’s latest self-penned album, After the Fair, draws its inspiration from the sights and sounds of the St. Pauli district of Hamburg, where she lived for nine years. The album was produced by Berlin musician and producer Moe Jaksch and has just been released in Europe on Colosseum Records. “A talented songwriter with an understated but utterly unaffected delivery…vivid…touching…pointed…playful…engaging…A rare gift for melody that’s perfect for Hinojosa’s lovely, relaxed soprano.” THE WASHINGTON POST “Her songs are richly detailed slices of life…Hinojosa’s is a strong, poetic, sensual, and conscious voice.” SPIN MAGAZINE Opening the show will be Los Angeles singer/songwriter Anny Celsi. Her style has been described as “beatnik cool,” “pop-noir,” and “slightlydelic pop jangle,” and has evoked comparisons to artists like Aimee Mann, Lucinda Williams, Suzanne Vega and Jackie DeShannon.

However, it was between 1962 and 1966 that the group had most of their chart success and that their unique ‘sound’ was crystallised. This study takes a broad, big- picture overview of the Beach Boy’s repertoire from this period and charts the development of their sound through the apprentice-craft-art (ACA) framework. The concept of a ‘sound’ is able to draw together the musical, technological, sociological and historical elements that, when combined, create the sound of the Beach Boys during the 1962-1966 period. The flexibility of this concept means that areas often overlooked in popular music studies and in studies on the Beach Boys in general (particularly the roles of production and instrument types), are able to be woven into analyses of more traditional musical elements (such as song structure or chord progressions).

The Beach Buoys were formed in 2017 by musicians Shawn Bryant and Nelson Bragg. Shawn Bryant started his professional career playing bass for legendary surf guitarist and Wrecking Crew member Jerry Cole and guitar for Jan Berry's band. Since that time, Shawn has played bass and guitar for a number of other rock and roll icons including Chubby Checker, Roger McGuinn and Ral Donner. In 2007, Shawn began playing live and recording with Don Randi and Hal Blaine. They, along with Jerry Cole, played on many of the most important Beach Boys recordings from 1964-76. Shawn, Don, Hal, Jerry and Nelson re-recorded eight classic "Wrecking Crew" tracks for the upcoming documentary "MAKAHA, The Story of the Originator". In addition: Hal, Don and Shawn have performed together at the NAMM convention, the LA premier of the "The Wrecking Crew" and a date at Don's legendary club "Baked Potato" in Hollywood. Shawn continues to work with Hal and Don on current projects. Nelson Brag is best known for his 14 year tenure with THE BRIAN WILSON BAND and as a member of the BEACH BOYS 2012 Anniversary Tour. In 2003, Nelson joined Brian Wilson's band as a percussionist-vocalist for live performances of Wilson's unreleased album Smile. The February 2004 premiere in London and subsequent tour was followed by a formal recording of "Smile", released in September 2004. "Smile" received multiple nominations for the 2004 Grammy Awards, including Best Pop Vocal Album[4] and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical (for Mark Linett).[5][6] The album later won a single Grammy, in the category of Best Rock Instrumental Performance, for the track "Mrs.
