BIOGRAPHY .,.

International audiences and critics alike have consistently recognized the fiery intensity that EDUARDO DELGADO projects from the concert stage. Following his recent appearance in his native , critics heralded him as a "rare musical personality," and in Tokyo following his recital in the Pablo Casals Hall, he was proclaimed, "the eminent as well as lyrical." Norwegian critics described Delgado as, "a pianist of a thousand nuances, a fantastic experience" in describing his recent recital. Delgado's concert appearances have spread across four continents - Eur­ ope, South America, Asia, and North America. He has appeared as a soloist with orchestras and in recitals in such countries as Germany, Spain, Italy, Mexico, Colombia, Canada, Korea, Taiwan, Brazil, and Venezuela, among ... others. Some highlights included appearances at Alice Tully Hall in New York, the Ambassador Auditorium Series and the Music Center in Los Angeles, Pa­ lacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, Teatro Colon in , and Bolshoi Zaal of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow. .,.._ In April of 1997, the Argentine American Cultural Foundation presented him .. in a recital at the Leo S. I , s Born in Rosario, Argentina, Eduardo Delgado began his early training with his mother, followed by studies with Arminda Canteros in Rosario, and then continued with Sergio Lorenzi in Venice, Marisa Maranca and Vicente Scaramuzza in Buenos Aires, Dora Zaslavsky of the Manhattan School of Music, and Rosina Lhevinne of the Juilliard School. Delgado's many awards and prizes include the Vladimir Horowitz Award; grants from the Mozarteum Argentina and Martha Baird Rockefeller; and prizes at international competitions such as the Montevideo International Competition, the Pro Cultura Musical, Amigos del Arte of Argentina, and the Concert Artists Guild, among others. Delgado has participated on such competition juries as the William Kapell International Competition and the Gina Bachauer International Competition in the U.S. and the Vega Competition in Japan. He has been on the artist fac­ ulties of the University of Southern California and the Community School of ' f Performing Arts in Los Angeles, and more recently in Japan, at Kobe College and Kyouku Daigaku in Osaka and Senzoku Gakuen in Tokyo. Additionally, ' Delgado is internationally in demand for piano master classes and workshops. . He is currently on the music faculty at California State University, Fullerton. Delgado often travels to Japan where he continues to perform and teach master classes. He has recorded the complete solo piano music of Alberto Ginastera in two volumes for MA Records in Tokyo. In July 1997, presented Delgado at the Verbier Festival in Switzerland. Later that month, he was invited to perform at Schloss Elmau in Bavaria, Germany. In December 1997 he returned to Paris to record Argentine songs with Argentine tenor, Jose Cura, for ERATO Records. He also presented a concert for the opening of the Marilyn Moyer Theater at the Parks Performing Arts Center in Portland, Oregon, in February 1998. Delgado has established an endowed scholarship fund for talented young pianists at California State University, Fullerton, as a tribute to the renowned concert pianist Madame Alicia de • Larrocha, and in May 1998 he performed the inaugural recital with Madame De Larrocha at the Richard Nixon Library in Yorba Linda, California. In spring 1999, three natives of Rosario - guitarist Ernesto Bitetti, tenor Jose Cura, and Eduardo Delgado - presented a concert in Rosario, and on April 13, 1999, Delgado was honored by the mayor of Rosario at the city hall. Delgado expressed his wishes, in the presence of the media, to form a bridge between his city and Fullerton, which will enable talented students to study overseas. He returned to Argentina in the summer to play additional recitals and give master classes, which were sponsored by the Secretary of Culture in Rosario. On August 31, 1999, Delgado was recognized for his service and tal­ ent in the world of music and was awarded a medal by UNESCO. -:1 I MASTER CLASS ~ .
