Azmin: No need for Selangor govt reshuffle to exclude PAS Free Malaysia Today May 9, 2017 By Adam Abu Bakar Selangor Menteri Besar says voters made their pick and mandate for parties currently forming the state government is for one term. SHAH ALAM: Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali has dismissed a call by Amanah Youth for the state’s leadership line-up to be reshuffled after the PAS muktamar (general assembly) resolved to terminate its cooperation with PKR on April 30. The PKR deputy president today said voters in the last general election in May 2013 had chosen PAS as well as DAP and PKR to jointly form the state government. “They made the selection, not me,” he said, referring to the 15 assemblymen from PAS, 15 from DAP and 14 from PKR who won state seats. “The mandate is for one term. “When it comes to the next term, we will leave it to the voters again,” he said, adding that the government was not formed based on parties but on the majority support in the state assembly. He said this to reporters on the sidelines of an event at the Shah Alam Convention Centre here. Amanah Deputy Youth chief Shazni Munir Mohd Ithnin was quoted earlier today as saying that a reshuffle was needed to solidify the collaboration among PKR, DAP, Amanah and PPBM as components in Pakatan Harapan in Selangor. He said it would also prevent the state from falling into the hands of Barisan Nasional. Azmin said he was willing to meet PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang to resolve the differences between PKR and the Islamist party.

Rafizi wants PKR reps besides Azizah to decline MalaysiaKini.com Aug 29, 2014 PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli today congratulated newly-elected PKR youth chief Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad for declining PAS Youth's suggestion to nominate him for the Selangor menteri besar post. Rafizi also lauded Nik Nazmi's (left) statement calling on all PKR Selangr assemblyperson from the party to do likewise through open statements. This would be in line with the party's "unanimous decision" on Wan Azizah, Rafizi said. "As such, I call upon all assemblypersons from PKR to make an open statement to reject any nomination for the post of menteri besar by any party as a means to respect the PKR leadership decision," he said. The call follows the Selangor palace's request for Pakatan parties to submit more than two names for the post, and PAS' insistence that it would put up at least two from PKR for the post. While Selangor Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim has finally tendered his resignation after failing to get the support of the majority of the state assemblypersons, the crisis is far from over. This is due to PAS' shifting stand on Khalid's replacement, despite a consensus agreement being beached at a Pakatan leadership meeting on Aug 17. While the outcome of the meeting was that Wan Azizah will be the sole candidate from Pakatan to be proposed to the palace, the sultan's request for multiple names has put PAS at odds with its coalition partners. Nik Nazmi: Thanks but no thanks Earlier today Nik Nazmi said he was grateful that PAS wants to nominate him soon as possible as Selangor menteri besar but he remains committed to supporting Wan Azizah's nomination.

There were three main findings of this study. Firstly, Barisan Nasional/United Malays National Organization (BN/UMNO) relied heavily on the party and governmental machineries and stronger grassroots in its campaign, Pakatan Harapan/Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PH/PKR)’s campaign focused on cybercampaign, walkabouts, and programmes and rallies featuring party heavyweights while Parti Islam Se Malaysia (PAS)’s campaign was less active due to strong reliance on grassroots and limited resources. Secondly, BN/UMNO’s victory in this seat was shaky because over half of the voters voted against it by voting for either PH/PKR or PAS.
