So let’s start to work and to meet Leopoldo Garcia Franquelo, each other! President of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society Marco Liserre and John Y. Hung ISIE 2010 General Co-Chairs Welcome to Politecnico di Bari It is really a pleasure for our Polytechnic to host the 2010 I.S.I.E. - Inter- national Symposium on Industrial Electronics. Politecnico di Bari is a young university: only 20 years old, but it brings the heritage of the very older School of Engineering of its “parent” Uni- versità degli Studi di Bari; so, in our Faculties and Departments both civil and industrial engineering are taught by more than 50 years. Our number are not huge, at least for Italian standards: about 350 tenured professors, for 12.000 students. Actually, industrial electronics consti- tutes a very important research area in our Electric and Electronic En- gineering Department, with many researchers and PhD students working on it. So, for us, to host a so important Symposium, with more than 650 attending researchers from almost 60 different nations, is together a challenge and an honor. The quantity, and the quality, of the selected papers constitutes already a big success, and let us hope that all our guests will enjoy the meeting, together with the whether (I hope!), the Mediterranean food and wines, and the City. Have a good time!
