  • The B-52'S Unforgettable Dance-Rock Tunes Start a Party Every Time the Music Begins
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE NOVEMBER 10, 2008 BOULEVARD CASINO PRESENTS THE B-52’s LIVE AT THE RED ROBINSON SHOW THEATRE FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 27 The first band to glorify pop culture with an almost Warholian sense of purpose, the B-52’s purveyed their absurd B- movie style and off-kilter sound celebrating the weirdness lurking just beneath the surface of Americana — not exactly a recipe for chart success but way ahead of its time nonetheless. Any mystery concerning the longevity and ongoing appeal of the B-52’s is immediately solved when exposed to the band’s unique concert experience. From the timeless gems of "Rock Lobster," "Planet Claire" and "Private Idaho" to the more recent classics of "Channel Z," "Love Shack" and "Roam" the B-52's unforgettable dance-rock tunes start a party every time the music begins. With the unexpected commercial and critical success of their debut album, The B-52’s in 1979, the band inadvertently formed the core of the burgeoning early '80's New Wave “movement.” They continued the pop music revolution that began with the punk revolution. Their second album, Wild Planet was released in 1980 and scored hits with "Private Idaho," "Give Me Back My Man" and "Strobe Light." In just two albums, the B-52's created a lexicon of songs, styles, phrases and images which would set the standard for the development of the “alternative music scene” for the next decade. Fast forward to today where the band has recorded their first album in sixteen years. Funplex was released by Astralwerks just this past March debuting at #11 on the US Billboard charts.
