Patuakhali District GEO Code based Unique Water Point ID Patuakhali District Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE) June, 2018 How to Use This Booklet to Assign Water Point Identification Code: Assuming that a contractor or a driller is to install a Shallow Tube Well with No. 6 Pump in SULTANPUR village BEMARTA union of BAGERHAT SADAR uapzila in BAGERHAR district. This water point will be installed in year 2010 by a GOB-Unicef project. The site of installation is a bazaar. The steps to assign water point code (Figure 1) are as follows: Y Y Y Y R O O W W Z Z T T U U U V V V N N N Figure 1: Format of Geocode Based Water Point Identification Code Step 1: Write water point year of installation as the first 4 digits indicated by YYYY. For this example, it is 2010. Step 2: Select land use type (R) code from Table R (page no. 4). For this example, a bazaar for rural commercial purpose, so it is 4. Step 3: Select water point type of ownership (OO) from Table OO (page no. 4) . For this example, it is 05. Step 4: Select water point type (WW) code from Table WW (page no. 5). For this example, water point type is Shallow Tube Well with No. 6 Pump. Therefore its code is 01. Step 5: Assign district (ZZ), upazila (TT) and union (UUU) GEO Code for water point. The GEO codes are as follows: for BAGERGAT district, ZZ is 01; for BAGERHAR SADAR upazila, TT is 08; and for BEMARTA union, UUU is 151. Step 6: GEO codes for SULTANPUR village, VVV is 368. Step 7: Assign 3 digits serial number (NNN). If this is the first water point installed at BEMARTA union in year 2010 then assign serial number (NNN) 1 as 001. Serial number should be used only once in a fiscal year. The second water point installed by any projects, regardless of the type, as long as it is in the same union, it will receive a serial number of 002. The completed water point identification is as follows (Figure 2): Y Y Y Y R O O W W Z Z T T U U U V V V N N N 2 0 1 0 4 0 5 0 1 0 1 0 8 1 5 1 3 6 8 0 0 1 Figure 2: Water Point Identification Code for a Shallow Tube Well with a No. 6 Pump Installed in Yr 2010 to Rural Commercial Land by GoB-Unicef in BAGERHAR district, BAGERHAT SADAR uapzila, BEMARTA union, SULTANPUR village with a serial no. of 1 Practice 1 Assuming that a contractor is going to install a Ring Well with Tara Pump at BINANAI village of BAGUTIA union of CHAUHALI upazila in SIRAJGANJ district. The study analysed data from self-reported surveys from 133 members of the sub-district level disaster management committee and government officials working with DRR. Employing the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method, we find that political economy factors explain 68% of the variance in funding allocations. We also show that four categories of political economy factors—power and authority, interest and incentives, institutions, and values and ideas—are significantly influential over the distribution of DRR funding across subdistricts of Bangladesh. Our findings offer important policy implications to reduce the potential risks surrounding political economy influences in fund allocation and advance climate Citation: Islam, Shafiqul, Khondker finance literature. Angiosperm diversity assessment in the park was conducted in between 2015 and 2016. A total of 265 plant species belonging to 75 families and 204 genera was identified from this National Park. Tree species of the park are represented by 89, shrubs by 45, herbs by 94, climbers by 31 and epiphytes by 6 species. In Magnoliopsida (dicots), Fabaceae is the largest family represented by 14 species, whereas in Liliopsida (monocots), Poaceae is the largest family represented by 13 species. The plant species recorded from the National Park were distributed in different habitats and maximum species were recorded in plantation areas(108) followed by homesteads (61), cultivated land(38), roadsides (35) and mangrove areas (23).The study has reported the presence of medicinal plants, wildlife supporting plants, exotics and invasive plants and rare plants in park. The presence of edible species in the National Park is very rare. The introduction of exotics species into the National Park has been accepted. As the presence of exotics in park, local flora will be faced great challenges in future for their existence. This article also focused conservation values, management concerns and some actions for conservation of angiosperm diversity in the National Park.

  • Bangladesh Cyclone Sidr Was the Second Occasion Habitat for Humanity* Responded to a Natural Disaster in Ban- Gladesh
Habitat for Humanity: The Work Transitional Shelters As480 of December 2008 Latrines As480 of February 2009 A Day in November On 15th November 2007, Cyclone Sidr bore down on southern Bangladesh, unleashing winds that peaked at 250 km. per hour and six-meter high tidal surges that washed away entire villages. Cyclone Sidr killed over 3,000 people, a fraction of the more destructive cyclones that struck in 1970 and 1991 which claimed more than 600,000 lives. But that was still too many. According to reports from the worst hit areas, many of the dead and injured were crushed when trees fell onto poorly constructed houses made of thatch, bam- boo or tin. • Taxonomy of the Leafy Vegetables in Bangladesh
Bangladesh J. Plant Taxon. 20(1): 95-123, 2013 (June) © 2013 Bangladesh Association of Plant Taxonomists TAXONOMY OF THE LEAFY VEGETABLES IN BANGLADESH 1 MAKSUDA KHATUN, MD. ABUL HASSAN, SHAIKH NAZRUL ISLAM 2 AND M. OLIUR RAHMAN Department of Botany, University of Dhaka, Dhaka 1000, Bangladesh Keywords: Leafy vegetables; New reports; Taxonomy; Bangladesh. Abstract Thirty four exploration trips made throughout Bangladesh from 2000 to 2012 resulted in identification of 186 taxa used as leafy vegetables in the country, of which 173 taxa belong to angiosperms and 13 taxa to pteridophytes. Among the angiosperms, Magnoliopsida is represented by 153 taxa under 114 genera and 43 families, whereas Liliopsida is represented by 20 species under 15 genera and 8 families. Pteridophytes are symbolized by 13 species belonging to 10 genera and 10 families. Under each taxon updated nomenclature, vernacular names, habit, representative specimen and area of major consumption of the plant as a leafy vegetable have been provided. Out of 186 leafy vegetables identified in Bangladesh, 140 taxa are wild and 46 are cultivated. Among the cultivated ones 16 species are cultivated only as leafy vegetables and 30 are cultivated for other purposes but also used as leafy vegetables. A total of 61 species have been newly documented as leafy vegetables for Bangladesh. Introduction Leafy vegetables are referred to leaves of any plants used as vegetables, sometimes accompanied by tender petioles and shoots. They constitute a major portion of our diet and play an important part in alleviating malnutrition. FAO (2012) has estimated that about 870 million people are chronically undernourished in the period 2010-12 representing 12.5% of the global population, or one in eight people.
