BASE CAMP & LITTLEROOM SLEEPOVER

There is great excitement at school with Base Camp and the Littleroom Sleepover happening on Tuesday and Wednes- day of next week. The students have been very busy getting Coming Events organised for this special event. Our school tents have been checked, put up and packed away in preparation for Tuesday night. The TERM 4 Bigroom have collected some data regarding meals and snacks for OCTOBER the camp and the packing list has been updated and sent home. At 20th & 21st October— this stage it looks like the weather will be ideal. Base Camp and Little Room Sleepover THE PORTABLE 22nd October—Footy/Netball/ Colours Day At long last some much 23rd October—AFL Grand Final needed maintenance Public Holiday work is underway on 29th October—Book Week, dress up day the portable. The stairs have been replaced, the bump in the floor has been fixed and new lino is currently being laid. Our students were very helpful and responsible when they NOVEMBER 2nd November—Pupil Free Day— assisted in removing everything from the portable to under the gaze- To be confirmed bo so the work could be undertaken. Many hands make light work. 3rd November— Cup We anticipate the work should be completed at the end of this week. Public Holiday

JUMPERS & JACKETS A reminder that it is that time of the year when it is often cold in the mornings and warm in the afternoons. This means jumpers and jack- ets are often taken off during the day.

Could all families please check that jumpers and jackets are clearly named. Our rule is that “Jumpers should be on you or in your bag”.

The capacity cluster of schools is currently organising for a summer sports Rochester SportsPower day to be held at the Elmore recreation reserve. Unfortunately parents will be unable to attend the event, and we seek your support by ensuring you do not turn up on the day at any time. Whilst this is St Vinnies Rochester disappointing for parents and students alike, it is necessary to ensure the Nathan West Plumbing event goes ahead. We will have five schools participating in the sports, and Echuca Freight & Furniture it is essential that the number of adults on site is kept to the bare minimum. HAIR CHECKS Now that students are back at school, we would like to remind families to keep checking for head lice on a regular basis at home. If you do find any evidence please contact the school so that we can inform the school community. All notifications are greatly appreciated and treated in the strictest confidence. Illnesses A couple of students were absent last week and this week, and as such were kept at home until they recovered. If students are unwell, or show any signs of a cough, cold or fever they must not attend school. We appreciate families’ support in this matter.

Our school was, of course, a state finalist in the Indigenous Culture Award following the work undertaken with our Yorta Yorta inspired meeting place art work under the gazebo. Whilst we did not win the award, it was fabulous to be recognised as a finalist. Many thanks to all involved who assisted with the nomination process.

BASE CAMP AND LITTLEROOM SLEEPOVER Tent practice. The students all completed a tent equipment checklist to make sure nothing was missing, and they also practised pitching and packing up the tents in preparation for the big event.

COUNTRY EDUCATION PROJECT-EKIDS The grade 5 and grade 6 students have had their first special learning event which was held on-line yesterday. The students all participated very well and they are looking forward to their next session. LFH EQUIPMENT

Many thanks to all families who have returned all school equipment, including the iPads, used during learning from home. It looks like the students have all the necessary supplies back at school ready for term four. BOOK WEEK DRESS UP

All students are invited to dress up as their favourite book charac- ter as part of our Book Week 2020 celebrations on Thursday 29th October. A parade of characters will take place at 9.15am.
