Fox News Co-Presidents Jack Abernethy and Bill Shine Sign New Multi-Year Contracts FOX NEWS CO-PRESIDENTS JACK ABERNETHY AND BILL SHINE SIGN NEW MULTI-YEAR CONTRACTS NEW YORK – September 14, 2016 – FOX News co-presidents Jack Abernethy and Bill Shine have signed new multi-year contracts, announced Rupert Murdoch, Executive Chairman of 21st Century Fox and Executive Chairman of FOX News & FOX Business Network. In making the announcement, Murdoch said, “Jack and Bill have been instrumental in FOX News’ continued dominance in the ratings and historic earnings performance. I am delighted they’ve each signed new deals, ensuring stability and leadership to help guide the network for years to come.” Abernethy and Shine added, “We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to continue leading FOX News and FOX Business into the future and look forward to working alongside the incredible roster of talent, both on and off air, to make each network even more successful.” Promoted to co-presidents in August, Abernethy and Shine oversee both FOX News Channel (FNC) and FOX Business Network (FBN), dividing responsibilities for all facets of the networks. While continuing to run FOX Television Stations (FTS), Mr. Abernethy manages all business components of FNC and FBN including finance, advertising sales and distribution units. Mr. Shine runs all programming and news functions of each network, including production, technical operations and talent management. In his role as CEO of FOX Television Stations, Jack Abernethy oversees 28 owned and operated stations in the nation’s largest television markets, including WNYW/WWOR in New York, KTTV/KCOP in Los Angeles, KDFW/KDFI in Dallas, WTXF in Philadelphia, WTTG/WDCA in Washington, D.C. and KTVU/KICU in San Francisco. He also operates FOX Television Stations’ first- run development and the programming service, MyNetworkTV. Prior to this position, Mr. Abernethy served as the Executive Vice President of FOX News, where he led development for long-term strategic and business plans for the network. His responsibilities at FOX News evolved to include oversight of finance, legal & business affairs and affiliate sales. Mr. Abernethy also spearheaded the launch of FOX News Radio to more than 500 stations across the country. Bill Shine has served as Senior Executive Vice President of Programming for FNC and FBN since August 2014. In this capacity, he ran all programming and synergies for both networks. Previously, he oversaw all opinion programming and production as an Executive Vice President. Mr. Shine notably launched a new primetime line-up in the fall of 2013, which included the debut of The Kelly File, now the second highest rated show in cable news behind only The O’Reilly Factor. He has led FNC’s powerhouse daytime and primetime programming to its number one status in cable news for 176 consecutive months, routinely topping basic cable for multiple quarters as well. Under his leadership of both networks, FNC is on track to have its highest rated year ever and FBN’s key programs continue to edge CNBC. Mr. Shine began his career at FNC as producer of Hannity & Colmes when the network launched in October 1996. Under his direction, Hannity & Colmes’ ratings grew 200% and became a formidable competitor to CNN’s Larry King Live. He also served as the executive producer of The Pulse, an investigative newsmagazine on FOX Broadcasting from 2001 to 2003. Shine was named Network Executive Producer in December 2000 and was promoted to Vice President, Production in 2003.     KEITH SHIPMAN Biography Keith Shipman was named President & CEO of the Washington State Association of Broadcasters on January 1, 2016. The WSAB is a trade association that focuses on promoting and protecting free, over- the-air broadcasters’ interests in Congress and Olympia, and represents 247 local radio and television broadcasters across the state. In addition to overseeing the day to day operations of the WSAB, Shipman managed the Oregon Association of Broadcasters in 2016 and 2017. He continues in his role as President & Chief Executive Officer of Horizon Broadcasting Group, a position he has held since 2003. He co-founded the company in 1999, and helped create a stable of 12 radio stations and a minor league baseball team in Oregon and Idaho. Three of Horizon Broadcasting Group's stations (KQAK-FM, KWPK-FM and KLTW-FM) have been honored as Oregon Radio Station of the Year, recognized by the Oregon Association of Broadcasters for their extraordinary community involvement. In 2008 he formed Summit Broadcasting Group, LLC to acquire and construct KBNW- AM, the first new AM station to sign on in Bend, OR since 1959. Upon appointment as CEO of Horizon Broadcasting Group he quickly moved to restructure the company, divesting its assets in Boise and Twin Falls, ID and Ontario, OR.     Cablevision and Fox had an agreement for Cablevision to carry WNYW, WWOR, and WTXF that expired at 11:59 pm EDT on October 15, 2010. They have been negotiating to renew that agreement, but failed to reach a new agreement before the deadline. As a result, Cablevision stopped carrying WNYW, WWOR, and WTXF. This dispute affects only Cablevision subscribers who wish to view programming on WNYW, WWOR, and WTXF. It does not affect Cablevision’s other programming, except as otherwise described below. If Cablevision and Fox reach a new agreement in the future, the affected programming may be restored to Cablevision’s system. Background Cable and satellite operators carry local television broadcast stations based on contracts with the stations. When these contracts end, the parties extend or renew the contract. In almost all cases, agreement is reached and the station is carried without interruption. On some occasions, the operator and the station fail to reach an agreement, and the cable or satellite operator must drop the station until an agreement is reached. These are private agreements, though federal law requires the parties to negotiate with each other in good faith. What can I do while WNYW, WWOR, and WTXF are not available on Cablevision systems? If you wish to view WNYW, WWOR, or WTXF, you may be able to use one of the following options to continue viewing the station: 1. Subscribe to another pay service that is carrying the station. In the affected areas, other available pay services include: AT&T, DIRECTV, DISH Network, RCN (limited areas of Brooklyn), and Verizon FIOS.

Seeman Media ownership is an important regulatory issue that is enforced by the Federal Communications Commission. The FCC, Congress, court and public interest groups share varying viewpoints concerning what the ownership limits should be and whether companies should be granted a waiver to be excused from the rules. News Corporation is one media firm that has a history of seeking these waivers, particularly for the New York Post and television stations in same community. This study conducted a qualitative framing analysis of news articles from the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal to determine if the viewpoints expressed by the editorial boards were reflected in reports on News Corp.’s attempt to receive cross-ownership waivers. The analysis uncovered ten frames the newspapers used to assist in reporting the events and found that 80% of these frames did parallel the positions the paper’s editorial boards took concerning ownership waivers.
