FACTBOOK 2019 WRC FACTBOOK 2019 / PROGRADE PHOTO OF THE YEAR WRC FACTBOOK 2019 / INTRO WRC FACTBOOK 2019 The 2018 WRC season will be remembered as the most exciting and dramatic in a generation. It is 15 years since a drivers’ title fight of similar magnitude and a compelling season-long battle involving three drivers was finally resolved on the last morning of the season in Australia. It was a similar story in the manufacturers’ championship. All four teams won rallies and three made the long journey Down Under still with an opportunity to claim the crown. Following a similarly enthralling and unpredictable 2017 cam- paign, when new-era World Rally Cars headlined a raft of major changes to the championship, it is clear our sport is in the midst of an unforgettable period in its history. Away from the close competition, the WRC has grown in stature. The year opened with a major launch at Birmingham’s Autosport International show and finished with a glamorous end of season gala in Sydney and with the cars showcased once more in front of Milan’s iconic cathedral in the Piazza del Duomo. Our pioneering WRC+ All Live channel revolutionised the way in which fans could enjoy the sport as it happened. Every special stage from each round was streamed live, featuring stunning onboard and helicopter footage. It was supplemented by expert analysis and reactions from across the service park – adding up to more than 325 hours of live coverage. Our traditional TV coverage thrived too. The WRC’s global audi- ence and the number of broadcast hours continue their positive trend of the last years.

  • The MICHELIN Pilot Sport H5 Proves the Ideal Match for Rallye
MEDIA INFORMATION 2019 FIA World Rally Championship Round 10/14: ADAC Rallye Deutschland The MICHELIN Pilot Sport H5 proves the ideal match for Rallye Deutschland’s multifaceted challenge This year’s Rallye Deutschland was won by Ott Tänak and his co-driver Martin Järveoja (Toyota Yaris WRC) who took command on Friday morning’s SS4 before going on to pop the champagne during Sunday afternoon’s podium celebrations. The Estonian pair took maximum advantage of the strength and grip of their tyres on the different types of surface thrown at them over the three days to spearhead an all-Toyota top-three after team-mates Kris Meeke/Sebastian Marshall and Jari-Matti Latvala/Miikka Anttila came home second and third. Like all the cars involved in the World Rally Championship’s premier class, the three Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT-run machines compete on Michelin rubber. Germany was the 10th round of the 2019 WRC but only the third sealed-surface fixture since the start of the season. One of its specificities is the wide variety of road surfaces it takes in, ranging from asphalt to abrasive concrete, while the stages themselves are narrow and lined with sharp stones in many places. As ever, one of the rally’s highlights was the long Panzerplatte test (41.17km) which criss-crosses the Baumholder army ranges and which – true to tradition – produced plenty of drama on Saturday afternoon. This year’s menu featured a total distance of 1,160.35 kilometres, which included 343.95km divided into 19 special stages, while the weather was hot and sunny throughout.

ŠKODA Motorsport Press Release, Page 1 of 4 Victory at festival of speed in Finland: Lappi/Ferm extend winning sequence for ŠKODA › Esapekka Lappi/Janne Ferm repeat last year’s victorious performance at their home rally in Finland › Sixth consecutive ŠKODA win in the WRC 2 › Two ŠKODA FABIA R5s in first two places › Michal Hrabánek: “A perfect performance from the entire team” Jyväskylä, 31 July 2016 – Great success for ŠKODA at the Rally Finland. ŠKODA drivers dominated proceedings in the WRC 2 class at the festival of speed in the forests of central Finland, the fastest rally on the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC 2) calendar. The “flying Finns” Esapekka Lappi/Janne Ferm repeated last year’s victory in the FABIA R5. In second place: their ŠKODA brand team-mates Teemu Suninen/Mikko Markkula (FIN/FIN), who competed in a FABIA R5 from the ŠKODA customer sport programme. The second ŠKODA Motorsport duo of Pontus Tidemand/Jonas Andersson (S/S) retired from the rally during the final special stage after impressive efforts to catch up. “At the Rally Finland, we saw a perfect performance from the entire ŠKODA team once again,” said ŠKODA Motorsport Director Michal Hrabánek. “I am particularly pleased for Esapekka Lappi and Janne Ferm, who were on a different level in their home rally and more than deserved their first win of the season. Of course I sympathise with Pontus and Jonas, who gave their all trying to chase second place and were punished harshly just before the end. However: two ŠKODA FABIA R5s in the first two places, a total of four ŠKODA teams in the Top 10, and ŠKODA drivers won 20 of 23 special stages.

  • Fia Rally Car Pyr Mid
FIA RALLY CAR PYR MID 2021 EDITION FOREWORD Dear Presidents, Dear Delegates, Approved by the World Motor Sport Council in June 2018, the new FIA Rally Car Pyramid has been designed to structure the market, to adapt our categories to the automobile industry changes and above all to respond to the demands of the competitors. Whether it concerns drivers or teams, new young talent or gentleman drivers, everyone can now find the product that best meets their needs. The implementation of this pyramid has consequences, such as the nomenclature of the groups between Rally1 and Rally5, or the arrival of the new Rally3 cars from 2021. During a period in which the challenges faced are more numerous than ever, we have resolved to pursue our path to continue to make motor sport more accessible and safer. This document is intended to present the portfolio of cars accepted in the FIA Championships in 2021, so that you can, if necessary, adapt your national regulations at the same time as ensuring sporting equity and a sound coexistence with the vehicles from previous generations. We are always ready to listen to you, and my team and I remain at your disposal to discuss this matter, in person, or by email at the following address: [email protected]. Yours sincerely, Yves Matton, FIA Rally Director Credit: @World 2021 FIA RALLY CAR PYRAMID 3 THE FIA RALLY CAR PYR MID Just like single-seater racing, in which the most high-performance cars are Formula 1 machines, rally is adopting a similar nomenclature: the smallest figure is synonymous with the summit of the pyramid.

Designed to next-generation technical regulations implemented by the FIA, the Fiesta WRC ushers in the latest technology in world rally cars. Despite being built to this new set of regulations, the class of 2017 evoke images which hark back to the Group B days of old and M-Sport’s latest creation retains a strong pedigree – sharing a platform with Europe’s number one best-selling small car.
