We are so excited to be back in the woods for the 30th running of this great stage rally. After taking last year off, we are confident that we can put on a great event that will be both exciting and safe for our competitors, volunteers, and fans. This year, we will have a great field of made up of both the top names we all know as well as your local heroes. Also, for the first time at NEFR, we will have the exciting R5 cars competing. We are working to make NEFR even better for both competitors and fans! Newer, improved electronic car tracking and timing will make following the action and scoring faster and more accurate than ever. Make sure to follow along in the RallySafe app or at americanrallyassociation.org. Putting NEFR on each year is a huge undertaking and I want to thank our landowners (Seven Islands Land Co, Wagner Forest Management, Northeast Timberlands, the towns of Peru, Woodstock, Andover, & Errol, and the Maine Department of Conservation), local businesses, sponsors, and especially the volunteers who make the rally possible. Without all of you, none of this could happen. Thanks also to our host venues, Sunday River Resort and JML Trucking. And, of course, to all the competitors, crews, families, and fans for helping make the New England Forest Rally one of the best races in the US. The two goals of NEFR are to put on a great rally and to help grow the sport as a whole. Want to help? Be respectful of our landowners, patronize our sponsors and local businesses and mention NEFR wherever you stop. Be smart, be safe, share us on social media, and most of all – have fun! Pastrana and Subaru teammate Brandon Semenuk now sit first and third in the season standings with three rounds of the nine-event calendar complete. “Great weekend here in Washington!” said Pastrana after the event. “We came in looking for a podium to keep us in good position in the standings and ended up coming away with a win—sometimes it’s about being in the right place at the right time. These roads are amazing and Brandon was really on it, great to have Ken Block back in the fight too. Rhi and I were happy to get the points and take a solid lead in the championship with six rounds to go!” A favorite of drivers and fans alike, Olympus Rally is notorious for rain, fast-changing road conditions, and some of the most scenic and challenging stages on the American calendar. With defending champion Barry McKenna and his Ford Fiesta WRC unfortunately sidelined due to a family issue, the fight for Open Class honors was between the two blue and gold Subaru Motorsports USA entries of Pastrana and Semenuk and the newly debuted #43 Hoonigan Racing Division WRX STI of Block and co-driver Alex Gelsomino.

  • Audi Driver Ekström on Podium After Pouring Rain
Audi MediaInfo Motorsport Communications Virginia Brusch Phone: +49 841 89-41753 E-mail: [email protected] www.audi -mediacenter.com/en Audi driver Ekström on podium after pouring rain • FIA World Rallycross Champion Mattias Ekström finishes third in Lohéac • Audi DTM driver Nico Müller celebrates impressive rallycross debut Lohéac/Neuburg, September 3, 2017 – Mattias Ekström is back on the road to success in the FIA World Rallycross Championship. At the ninth round in Lohéac, the reigning World Champion finished third – the first podium result since his victory in Hockenheim last May. In front of 75,000 spectators, the Swede was only beaten in the final by his countryman Johan Kristoffersson and the French local matador Sébastien Loeb. In the overall standings, Ekström is third behind Kristoffersson and his team mate Petter Solberg – also like EKS in the team classification. Following heavy rain, the final race in Brittany became a mud festival featuring many overtaking moves. “Saturday sun and Sunday rather more swimming and sliding, a varied weekend,” confirmed Ekström. “I’m actually quite satisfied with my third place, but I’m a little annoyed because we weren’t so far from the front. In the dry and in the rain we were just missing a tiny bit, but we can certainly build on the performance.” In Lohéac, Ekström’s team mates Reinis Nitišs and Toomas Heikkinen once again made the semi- final races for the twelve fastest drivers, but drew the short straw at this stage. “After contact with Andreas Bakkerud my wipers stopped working, from there on I was running blind,” summarized Nitišs and added: “I’m disappointed with the result because it doesn’t show our real performance.” Heikkinen missed the final after a collision with Ken Block.
