In February 2010 a small group of six members of St. Mary’s congregation, including Susie Green, the curate, met to plan a service for the children from St. Mary’s School, to be held in church and open to the community.

We had already visited St. Luke’s Church in , to experience their Sunday afternoon family service, which gave us lots of ideas. We knew we wanted the service to be active, fun and one that would support the school in developing the children’s spiritual lives. The school had suggested that the service should be held towards the end of the school day, so that parents and carers could pick up the children from the church, or join us for the service. added the Creation zone, where the children planted up pots of seeds to take home.
