Civic Live is proud to once again bring nationally and internationally acclaimed artists to Rochester and to maintain affordable ticket pricing so that everyone can attend these great shows. September 25: Sally Barris, Elle Pollock, Hugh Bob, Brandon Sampson October 23: Haley Bonar, Erik Koskinen, Barry Nelson, Brandon Sampson, November 13: Adam Levy, Chastity Brown, & Brandon Sampson Tickets are $17.50 in advance, $22 at the door Real Music Series featuring Dessa October 10 at 7:30pm The Civic Theatre is pleased introduce the “Real Music Series” with two concerts in our intimate Theatre. We kick off this exciting addition to the Rochester music scene with Dessa, whose unique sensibility to underground hip-hop: literary, bitter-sweet, and wry, is just one of the reasons for her rapidly increasing popularity and celebrated status in the national music scene. Powerful, honest and strong; with a cappella arrangements that are seductively delicate, expressive, and float upon blue-tinged, old world harmonies. Tickets are $17 in advance, $22 at the door. An Evening with Rudy Maxa and Kerri Miller October 13 at 7:30pm A delightful evening of audience participation and fascinating; off-the-record conversation with two of the American media’s most interesting professionals. Rudy Maxa, one of America’s premier travel journalists, will join Kerri Miller on the Civic Theatre stage, to offer a look behind 1 of 3 | P a g e the scenes of their professions. Maxa and Miller draw from his career as a DC-based scandal monger-turned-travel-writer-and-broadcaster and her career as television news reporter-turned- radio-talk-show-host-and-literary doyenne. This is a ticked event. Ticket prices TBA. “The Boy at the Gate, A Memoir” by Danny Ellis October 17 at 7:00pm Dialogue with the author, and readings from “The Boy at the Gate, A Memoir” by Danny Ellis, an Irish singer-songwriter and author. Beautifully written with warmth and humor, a searingly honest, harrowing account of a young boy's struggle to survive orphanage life, and an inspiring testament to the healing power of music and love. Stuart Pimsler Dance & Theater 35th Anniversary Celebration October 18 at 7:30pm Stuart Pimsler Dance & Theater celebrates its 35th Anniversary Season at the Rochester Civic Theater with an evening of critically acclaimed works from throughout the company's history as well as new works from SPDT's repertory. SPDT's company of artists integrates emotional physicality with vocal and theatrical expression to explore the common themes of love, loss, and longing with audiences worldwide. Tickets are $17 in advance, $22 at the door. Jazz Jam October 19, November 9 at 8:00pm Live jazz & open mic at the Rochester Civic Theatre. John Sievers (trombone) and the D’Sievers host these popular jazz open mic events from 8 to 11pm. Bring your instrument, warm up your voice and play or sing a tune with a great live jazz band. Americana Showcase Holiday Show December 18 at 7:30pm Rochester’s ever-popular music series, Americana Showcase presents its holiday concert to conclude the Fall/Winter ’13 season.
