The second floor was an old ballroom, and in 1959 North High student Marsh Edelstein started to organize dances on Friday and Saturday nights. He wanted a place that was available to kids from North and Edison Highs, and its popularity spread to kids from other high schools to become one of the biggest Minneapolis hangouts. Local bands were Camden Bank 705 42nd Ave N Ballroom All Extant 1910 NA 1959 No Mixed Use booked for the dances: the DelCounts, the Underbeats, the Accents, the Trashmen, No Castaways, Avanties, etc. The Underbeats remember not being able to play their hit "Foot Stompin'" there because the kids stomped the ceiling in on the janitor in the basement ‐ Marsh does not remember this, and is a little puzzling since the dance hall was on the second floor.

Ten years ago, when SST Records spun at the creative center of rock music, founder Greg Ginn was living with six other people in a one-room rehearsal studio. SST music was whipping like a sonic cyclone through every college campus in the country. SST bands criss-crossed the nation, luring young people away from arenas and corporate rock like no other force since the dawn of punk. But Greg Ginn had no shower and no car. He lived on a few thousand dollars a year, and relied on public transportation. "The reality is not only different, it's extremely, shockingly different than what people imagine," Ginn said. "We basically had one place where we rehearsed and lived and worked." SST, based in the Los Angeles suburb of Los Alamitos, is the quintessential in- dependent record label. For 17 years it has existed squarely outside the corporate rock industry, releasing music and spoken-word performances by artists who are not much interested in making money. When an SST band grows restless for earnings or for broader success, it simply leaves the label. Founded in 1978 in Hermosa Beach, Calif., SST Records has arguably produced more great rock bands than any other label of its era. Black Flag, fast, loud and socially aware, was probably the world's first hardcore punk band. Sonic Youth, a blend of white noise and pop, is a contender for best alternative-rock band ever.

Please read the details of each package carefully before bidding, as UWNEMN is not responsible for misunderstandings related to overlooked package information in the auction booklet. All auction packages have a minimum bid and bid increments that should be followed. Minimum bids are based at less than half of the package value. Once you have placed a bid, it cannot be withdrawn. The highest recorded bid at the time the auction closes will become the purchaser of the item.     Folkdays … Wilco-Songs minimalistisch Musik | Jeff Tweedy: Together At Last Jeff Tweedy, das ist einerseits ein Singer-Songwriter, andererseits ist er der Macher von Wilco in Zusammenarbeit mit John Stirratt, Glenn Kotche, Mikael Jorgensen, Nels Cline und Pat Sansone. Er war auch einmal mit dem Band-Projekt Golden Smog zu hören und es gibt neue Bands von ihm genannt Loose Fur und Tweedy. Das zuerst kurz als Fakten. Von TINA KAROLINA STAUNER Das neue Album von Jeff Tweedy ›Together At Last‹ ist wie ein Überbleibsel aus einer Zeit, in der die Freude Americana, Alternative Country und Neofolk zu hören manchmal fast ungetrübt war. Kein Mainstream laberte irgendeinen Klimbim dazwischen und neben Befindlichkeits- und Beziehungstexten war Sozial- und Gesellschaftskritik in Lyrics ein Zeichen für Anspruch und Niveau. Die Chicagoer Independent-Band Wilco hatte sich mit den ersten Alben in den 1990er Jahren mit Leib und Seele in den Spirit einer ganzen Independent-Generation gespielt. Entstanden aus Uncle Tupelo war Wilco immer wichtig im Diskurs. Bezogen auf traditionelles Wissen über Country und Folk hatte die Band einen ureigenen Sound und integrierte manchmal auch neue und elektronische Klänge in den Kontext. Mittlerweile scheint Jeff Tweedy teils zynisch bis zum geht-nicht-mehr und nach ›Star Wars‹ und ›Schmilco‹ mit Cover-Artwork wie ein Cartoon kam ein ›Together At Last‹. Vergangenheit ist das Woody Guthrie Project, das er mit Nora Guthrie und Billy Bragg vor Jahren veröffentlichte. Vergangenheit sind die frühen Independent-Jahre, wenn es überhaupt noch Leute gibt, die sich daran erinnern. Vergangenheit ist die Band-Dokumentation ›Man in the Sand‹. Specifically, this study attempts to establish a logical expansion and adaptation of Bale’s Four-Stage Ideal-type on the Evolution of the Modern English Soccer Stadium appropriate for the history of professional baseball and football and that predicts future changes in American sport facilities. In essence, it is the author’s intention to provide a more coherent and comprehensive account of the evolving professional baseball and football sport facility and where it appears to be headed. This investigation concludes eight stages exist concerning the evolution of the professional baseball and football sport facility. Stages one through four primarily appeared before the beginning of the 20th century and existed as temporary structures which were small and cheaply built. Stages five and six materialize as the first permanent professional baseball and football facilities. Stage seven surfaces as a multi-purpose facility which attempted to accommodate both professional football and baseball equally.
