2010 - 2011 Dryland Hockey Inc Equipment List Dryland Hockey Inc. mandates certain equipment and clothing to keep us safe and to ensure that, although Dryland Hockey Inc is designed to be affordable, our appearance always looks PRO. The estimated start up equipment cost per player is around $100 per player. The equipment mandated is important to keep hockey sticks and balls from injuring our bodies. If you chose to purchase slightly used equipment instead of new to save money make sure the equipment is in good shape and it fits correctly so you/your child aren’t constantly struggling with loose, worn out equipment or not adequately protected. Often Velcro straps on used gear are worn out, so pay especially close attention to your equipment straps. Picking a stick is up to the player. Hockey sticks $25 or < will do the trick. Wood blades are fine for outside play. Plastic blades are required for indoor play. AVOID PURCHASING THE SCREW ON PLASTIC BLADES BECAUSE THEY ARE EXCESSIVELY HEAVY. Hockey sticks with wooden shafts and plastic injected blades work great! Youth Equipment (Clinics and League Play Level II and Above) **** PARENTS PLEASE PUT YOUR CHILD’S FIRST NAME ON THE FRONT OF THEIR HELMET USING WHITE HOCKEY TAPE AND A MARKER. THANK YOU! Mandatory - Black t-shirt (clinic) OR your Dryland Hockey Jersey (game) & black athletic shorts or black athletic pants - Hockey helmet with cage (put your first name on the front of your helmet using white hockey tape) - Hockey or lacrosse gloves - *** Shin pads (see below for seasonal specifications) - Hockey stick (plastic, injected blade for gym floors. Outdoors you can use what you want) - Athletic shoes with laces… NO SANDLES OR SLIP ON SHOES Suggested (optional) - Elbow pads - Athletic supporter and cup (compression shorts with pouch) - Mouth guard *** Seasonal shin pad specifications… INDOOR Shin Pad Requirement (NEW policy as of 10-4-10) - Soccer shin pads with BLACK socks over the top and a volleyball like knee pad. The kids like to slide on their knees and the plastic shin pads leave marks that are hard to remove from the gym floor. OUTDOOR Shin Pad Requirement - Hockey shin pads only (Street hockey or ice hockey shin pads, but NO soccer shin pads). If kids fall or slide on the cement or tar without these pads they could suffer a nasty injury. Community Education/Park & Recreation Adult Equipment Mandatory - Black t-shirt and black athletic shorts or athletic pants - Hockey or lacrosse gloves - Hockey shin pads (no soccer shin pads) - Hockey stick - Athletic shoes with laces… NO SANDLES OR SLIP ON SHOES Suggested - Hockey helmet with cage - Elbow pads - Athletic supporter and cup (compression shorts with pouch) - Mouth guard Copyright 2010 Dryland Hockey Inc www.drylandhockey.com PUB HOCKEY EQUIPMENT FOR ADULTS Mandatory - Hockey stick - Athletic shoes with laces… NO SANDLES OR SLIP ON SHOES Suggested - Hockey shin pads - Protective gloves (hockey, lacrosse or broomball) - Elbow pads - Hockey helmet with cage - Athletic supporter and cup (compression shorts with pouch) - Mouth guard Preferred Brands and Tips Yes you can use existing ice hockey gear.
