And when I die, and when I'm gone there'll be, one child born, in this world to carry on, to carry on yeah yeah. Give me my freedom for as long as I be All I ask of livin' is to have no chains on me All I ask of livin' is to have no chains on me And all I ask of dyin' is to go natrually, only wanna go naturally Here I go! hey hey Here come the devil right behind look out children, here he come here he come, heyyy. Don't wanna go by the devil don't wanna go by the demon don't wanna go by satan don't wann die uneasy just let me go naturally. And when I die, and when I'm dead dead and gone there'll be one child born, in our world to carry on, to carry on. Blood, Sweat & Tears. The difference between Blood, Sweat & Tears and the group's preceding long-player, Child Is Father to the Man, is the difference between a monumental seller and a record that was "merely" a huge critical success. Arguably, the Blood, Sweat & Tears that made this self-titled second album -- consisting of five of the eight original members and four newcomers, including singer David Clayton-Thomas -- was really a different group from the one that made Child Is Father to the Man, which was done largely under the direction of singer/songwriter/keyboard player/arranger Al Kooper. They had certain similarities to the original: the musical mixture of classical, jazz, and rock elements was still apparent, and the interplay between the horns and the keyboards was still occurring, even if those instruments were being played by different people. Kooper was even still present as an arranger on two tracks, notably the initial hit "You've Made Me So Very Happy." But the second BS&T, under the aegis of producer James William Guercio, was a less adventurous unit, and, as fronted by Clayton-Thomas, a far more commercial one. Not only did the album contain three songs that neared the top of the charts as singles -- "Happy," "Spinning Wheel," and "And When I Die" -- but the whole album, including an arrangement of "God Bless the Child" and the radical rewrite of Traffic's "Smiling Phases," was wonderfully accessible. It was a repertoire to build a career on, and Blood, Sweat & Tears did exactly that, although they never came close to equaling this album. I'm not scared of dying And I don't really care. If it's peace you find in dying well then Let the time be near. If it's peace you find in dying And if dying time is near. Just bundle up my coffin 'Cause it's cold way down there. I hear that it's cold way down there Yeah crazy cold way down there. And when I die And when I'm gone. There'll be one child born In this world to carry on To carry on. Now troubles are many They're as deep as a well. I can swear there ain't no heaven But I pray there ain't no hell. Yes I swear there ain't no heaven and I pray there ain't no hell. But I'll never know by living Only my dying will tell. Yes only my dying will tell Yeah only my dying will tell. And when I die And when I'm gone. There'll be one child born In this world to carry on To carry on. Give me my freedom For as long as I can be. All I ask of living Is to have no chains on me. All I ask of living Is to have no chains on me. And all I ask of dying is to go naturally Oh I want to go naturally. Here I go Hey hey Here comes the devil Right behind Look out children Here he comes Don't want to go by the devil Don't want to go by demon Don't want to go by Satan Don't want to die uneasy Just let me go naturally. The word karaoke comes from the Japanese words ‘kara’ meaning ’empty’ and ‘oke’ meaning ‘orchestra’. It first became popular in English in 1979. Karaoke is a Japanese word that refers to a performance in which a person sings along with recorded music. It’s a popular form of entertainment at restaurants and clubs: amateur singers choose their favourite well-known song to sing and then perform it for the crowd. 5 Tips for Singing Karaoke. Here are some other things to keep in mind about how to have a successful karaoke night: Warm up your voice before singing so you can really hit those high notes! Follow along with this quick video on vocal warm ups for singers. Look confident. Start with a smile and with your feet planted shoulder width apart. Make no apologies for being on that stage! Pick a song you really know so you’re not always having to look at the lyrics on the screen. Don’t forget you have an audience that wants you to sing to them! Use good vocal technique. Breathe low, and keep your sound placed in your mask rather than shouting into the microphone. Practice at home! YouTube has many excellent channels, such as KaraFun, that can help you practice..

SoundStage! Mike Bloomfield, Al Kooper, Steve Stills – Super Session 03.06.09 07:56 February 2009 Mike Bloomfield, Al Kooper, Steve Stills - Super Session Speakers Corner/Columbia Records CS 9701 Format: LP Originally Released: 1968 Reissue Released: 2008 by Joseph Taylor [email protected] Musical Performance Recording Quality Overall Enjoyment In 1968, Al Kooper had just left Blood Sweat & Tears, the horn band he had started, and was an A&R man at Columbia Records. Guitarist Mike Bloomfield, whom Kooper had played with on Highway 61 Revisited, was also between bands, so Kooper called him up and suggested they jam in the recording studio. Two other musicians, bassist Harvey Brooks and drummer Eddie Hoh, joined them for a marathon nine-hour session (pianist Barry Goldberg sat in on a couple of tracks). The next day, Bloomfield was a no show and Kooper, in a panic, cast about for another guitarist. He was lucky enough to track down Steven Stills, whose band, Buffalo Springfield, had just split up. After another long session, Kooper had enough material to create an album. Super Session, co-credited to Bloomfield, Kooper, and Stills, cost $13,000 to record and became a gold record. Kooper had horn arrangements dubbed onto some of the tunes, but otherwise they were released as originally recorded, except for some editing on a version of Donovan’s "Season of the Witch." Bloomfield is the reason to own the record. His searing guitar work is astonishing, some of the best of his brief career. He plays with focused intensity and a powerful grasp of blues tradition.

  • David Clayton-Thomas
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE JUNE 27, 2008 BOULEVARD CASINO PRESENTS DAVID CLAYTON-THOMAS LIVE AT THE RED ROBINSON SHOW THEATRE SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 22 David Clayton-Thomas began his amazing journey as a homeless street kid and developed into one of the most recognizable singer/songwriters in the world … to date selling over 40 million records. His 1968 debut album with Blood Sweat & Tears sold 10 million copies worldwide … the self-titled album topped the Billboard album chart for seven weeks and charted for a staggering 109 weeks. It won an unprecedented five Grammy Awards including “Album of The Year” and “Best Performance by a Male Vocalist” and featured the hit singles, “You’ve Made Me So Very Happy,” “And When I Die” and “Spinning Wheel” as well as an irresistible rendition of Billy Holliday’s “God Bless The Child” which became a signature song for him. With David largely dominating the creative output, BS&T continued with a string of hit albums including BS&T 3 which featured such highpoints as David’s “Lucretia MacEvil” and Carole King’s “Hi-De-Do” and BS&T 4 which yielded another Clayton-Thomas penned hit single, “Go Down Gamblin’.” In the early years, David lived on the road travelling all over Europe, Australia, Asia, South America, the US and Canada with BS&T but the constant touring began to take its toll ... he left the band in 1972 and by the mid-70’s, the founding members began to drift away to start families and pursue their own musical ambitions. One by one they were replaced by such notable jazz players as Joe Henderson, Jaco Pastorius and Mike Stern.

  • Mike Bloomfield Pickup Phrases
The Essential Mike Bloomfield Pickup Phrases by Don Mock Welcome to this lesson series on the legendary Michael Bloomfield. No guitarist cast a larger shadow of influence on my playing career than Bloomfield. Mike was a gifted and creative Blues player who had a special magic when he played. He was the first player in the ‘60’s to incorporate melodies and sounds that were above and beyond the rock and Blues styles of the day. I can remember literally wearing out my “Butterfield” and “Super Session” albums try- ing to capture every note and nuance in his solos. Mike Bloomfield was clearly influenced by the great Bluesmen but he also listened to and was inspired by other forms of music including jazz. And it was those great little jazz touches, Mike brought to his improvised solos, that intrigued me and many others to study deeper into the world of jazz as well as Blues. And although I became known more as a Jazz and Fusion player later in my career, my musical soul still resides in the Blues and Mike Bloomfield. So, thanks for checking out this lesson and hope you gain a bit more insight into this great American guitarist whose life and career were far too short. This first installment of the Essential Mike Bloomfield demonstrates “pickup” or “setup” phrases Mike often used to begin or lead into his brilliant solos. The examples are rooted in traditional Blues and R&B and similar versions can be heard by many Blues guitar players. But Bloomfield had a special way of making even the simplest of them sound unique.
