TO BE READ IN ALL ODD FELLOW LODGES: GRAND MASTER’S LETTER Dear Brothers and Sisters, September: time for kids to go back to school. Although this could also be a continua - tion of the end of last school year with kids doing online schooling. I am hoping we get back to normal, or a new normal, and not have all this uncertainty going around. Speaking of the new normal, how do we go about doing fundraisers? When we cannot have big groups in one room, how does the lodge raise enough money to keep going and to give out to those in distress? We are going to need to think of new ways or ideas to do this, at least for a while, if not forever. Maybe the Brat fry you have, you will have to make x’s every 6 feet, or that band and refreshments you used to have with a packed house now is a pay to view streaming event with just the band on stage. We all need to think of new ways to go FISHING for ideas and ways to raise money in this new normal. I do not have the answers as to how every lodge is going to do their events as each event is different. Each lodge will need to figure out how to work within these new requirements and still be FISHING for members and funds for the lodge. If you need any help with anything let Let’s go FISHING !!! me and know. I will do my best to be at your events to help in any way I can. I will do whatever you need me to do to help you get out there FISH - ING for . Until next month when I will have more FISHING stories to share with you. In Friendship, Love and Truth, Jeffery Jones, Grand Master

It was a giant earthquake that levele d m u c h o f t h e c i t y . On April 21st, the Sovereign Grand Lodge requested the Jurisdictions make liberal contributions to help relieve Odd Fellows and Rebekahs in the devastated area. NEWS FROM THE CEO Hello my friends! There is so much going on in the health care world today I do not know where to begin! The most important thing to tell you is, we are fine at Odd Fellow Rebekah Home! We are still not completely “open” to visitors but we are beginning to have outside visits for our residents and their families. It has been a very long spring and we are praying for a kinder summer. I am not sure where I personally stand with all of the restrictions but professionally, I comply with all of the CDC recommendations. Therefore, I want to encourage you to maintain social distancing and wear your mask when out and about. I wear my mask for three reasons: 1. I work in health care and I am living with what can happen. 2. I care about the people I could infect if I were positive and did not comply. 3. What if? What if a mask really works and we kick this thing? What if I save a life by being compliant? What if this is all political and it goes away in November – what if? The other issue we face every summer is the heat. I have historically sent you ways to be safer in the summer months but this year I am attaching a notice I received from our pharmacy. There are many medications out there that increase our sensitivity to the sun or can increase the risk of dehydration. Please take a look at the list and engage in safety measures or simply be aware if you are on any of them. I wish you all good health and God’s love! Char Summer is full of sun, heat, and fun! The Covid-19 virus has inffliclicted a lot of dammaage and uncertainntty in our world. The virus has made us change a lot of plans and activities that so mmaannyy of us have looked ffoorward to with great annticiticipation; our 71st Pilgrimage ffoor Youth tour, the Sovereign Grand Sessions and many if not all of our state sessions. All of thesee have been cancellled due to one immpoportanntt reason, the saffeety and well-being of our people. I was looking ffoorward to this year’s program with a certain ammouount of anxiety and excitemennt.t. A lot of work has gone inntto this year’s tour by a lot of people and I truly appreciate the time and efffffoort thata everyonnee has given to the program. Now we hhaave a whole year beffoore our tour can take place and that means that nexxtt year’s tour will be even better!! We will be sending out certiffiicates next week to Jurisdictions and individuals thata made donations to our program this year. We trryy hard to hold down the cost of the trip and depend verryy much on your donations to keep the program in the black. Last year it cost around $2,800.00 per delegate and we charge $2,000.00 per delegate. The difffffeerence of $800.00 per delegate is made uupp with donations. For the third year in a row the delegate’s ffeee will remain the same. All donatia ons help!! This year, our donations ranged ffrrom $10.00 to $30,000.00. A hhuguge thannkk you to Boone Loddge #170 in Madison, WV ffoor the generous $30,000.00 ddonatition and The Charititablle Foundation of thhee Grand Loddge of Utah who this past week gave us a donation of $10,000.00!! The Pilgrimage ffoor Youth website has been updated. Please take thhee timmee to look at it: hhttttps:// www.iooffppilgrimageffooryouth.com. On the ffrronntt page is a group picture of our delegates and a caption thhatat says: GATEWAY TO THE FUTURE STANDING ON THE FOUNDATION OF THE PAST. Our delegates are the Gateway to the ffuuture and will keep our ffououndation and traditions intactt ffoor generations to come. Whheen you suuppoppport one of our delegates, you are building our ffuuture. On the ffrronntt page we will also post annyy immpoportant annouo ncemmeents and evenntts thata are relative to the Pilgrimage ffoor Youth program. THE 2020 PILGRIMAGE FOR YOUTHH TOUR HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO THE COVID-19 VIRUS. WWee will be back in 2021 with an even bigger and better tour!! IMPORRTTTANANT UPDATES FOR 2021: On May 15, 2020, the Pilgrimage ffoor YYoouutth Board met via zoom and decided to cancel the 2020 Pilgrimage Tour due to the Covid-19 virus. Thhee Board set the datesa ffoor next year’s tour ffoor Jullyy 3-16, 2021. The option ffoor onllyy attending ffoor the one-week tour is no longer available. The cost ffoor the tour remains the same ffoor thhee 2021 tour: $2,000 per delegate and $1,600 per tour leader. The Board also waived the rule of one year in schooo l remaining and the age requirement ffoor those delegates that were sponsored ffoor thhiis year’s tour, thereffoore, making them eligible to attend next summer. This is a one-time consideration and will only apply to the delegattes sponsored ffoor the 2020 tour. The Pilgrimage ffoor YYoouth Board has also increased the Scholarship ffoor the Speech connttest winners. The ffiirst-plaace winner will be awarded $2,000 and the rruunnere -uupp will receive $1,000. 2021 delegate application ffoorms and 2021 tour leader and sttaffff applilicatitions mmuust be used.
