Associate Conductor Count Basie Jumpin’ at the Woodside* Michelle Merrill, Arr. Master Sergeant (ret.) Vince Norman Chief Warrant Officer Daniel Wood, Conductor Rapidly rising conductor Michelle Merrill is the associate conductor of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, where she also carries the George Benson The Cooker* Arr. Sergeant First Class Paul White title of Phillip and Lauren Fisher Community Ambassador. A Chief Warrant Officer Daniel Wood, Conductor passionate and dynamic artist, Merrill was named one of Hour Arr. Master Sergeant (ret.) Lady Day Detroit magazine’s "3 Cultural Organization Leaders to Watch" and Vince Norman Alexis Cole, vocalist was recently profiled by the Ford Motor Company for its website fordbetterworld.org. She is also a recipient of a 2016 Michael Giacchino “Married Life” from Up Arr. Steven Baker Solti Foundation U.S. Career Assistance Award. Samuel Augustus Ward America the Beautiful Chief Warrant Officer Daniel Wood Arr. Carmen Dragon and Richard Hayman Chief Warrant Officer Daniel Wood joined The United States Army Field Band in December 2014 as officer-in-charge of the Arr. Master Sergeant (ret.) Vince Norman Armed Forces Salute* and Staff Sergeant Daniel Jamieson Jazz Ambassadors. He previously served as commander of the Chief Warrant Officer Daniel Wood, Conductor 10th Mountain Division Band at Fort Drum, New York, with which INTERMISSION he deployed to Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. He also served as commander of the Band at Joint Base Edward Kennedy “Duke” Ellington C Jam Blues* Lewis-McChord, Washington. Wood holds a bachelor’s degree Arr. Sergeant Major (ret.) Eugene Thorne in music education and a master’s degree in music from New George Gershwin Strike Up the Band Mexico State University. Arr. Frank Campbell-Watson

Jazz Ambassadors Morton Gould American Salute The Jazz Ambassadors is the U.S. Army’s official touring big Jackie McLean Let Freedom Ring* band. Formed in 1969, this 19-member ensemble has received Arr. Master Sergeant (ret.) Vince Norman Alexis Cole, vocalist great acclaim at home and abroad performing America’s greatest original art form, jazz. The band’s concerts are designed Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky 1812 Overture* to entertain all types of audiences. Its diverse repertoire includes Ouverture Solennelle, Op. 49 With live cannon fire provided by Loomis’ Battery, big-band swing, bebop, Latin, contemporary jazz, standards, Michigan Light Artillery, Don Lutz, Commander** popular tunes, Dixieland, vocals and patriotic selections, many of which are written or arranged by the members.
