  • Hello, I'm So Excited to Announce That the Fourth Fleet Foxes Album Shore, Fifteen Songs in Fifty-Five Minutes, Will Be Releas
Hello, I’m so excited to announce that the fourth Fleet Foxes album Shore, fifteen songs in fifty-five minutes, will be released in full on September 22, the autumnal equinox. If you had asked me this past April, watching the world be rearranged and with a half-finished album on a hard drive in my closet, I would have told you the record was likely to never come out at all. So it is an enormous joy that it all came together in the way that it did and that we're able to share it so soon after its completion. WRITING I began writing Shore in September of 2018, right at the end of the 170-show tour for the last Fleet Foxes album Crack-Up. I’m very proud of that record, and of the tour we were able to mount around it, but living for that long inside Crack-Up’s dense compositions, and touring that relentlessly, left me in a quandary: I didn’t want to take another long break from music; I really wanted to work and feel useful, but I needed to find a new, brighter way of making songs if I was going to go straight into something large and ambitious again. I found myself listening more to Arthur Russell, Curtis Mayfield, Nina Simone, Michael Nau, Van Morrison, Sam Cooke, The Roches, João Gilberto, Piero Piccioni, Tim Bernardes, Tim Maia, Jai Paul, and Emahoy Tsegué-Maryam Guèbrou - music that is simultaneously complex and elemental, “sophisticated” and humane, propulsive rhythmi- cally but feathery melodically.

  • When Grizzly Bear Came to the End of the Road with Their Fourth Album, 2012'S 'Shields', the Future Was Unclear
When Grizzly Bear came to the end of the road with their fourth album, 2012's 'Shields', the future was unclear. No dramatic decisions were made, no arguments were had, but there was a feeling as there always is with the foursome that a breather was required. The band who emerged in 2004 in Brooklyn, New York, have forever functioned as a self-described “democracy”. It's equal and it's fair but it can also take a lot of out of them. And so they went their separate ways and bedded down in different corners. Vocalist and songwriter Ed Droste adapted back to life in Los Angeles, his new adopted home and decided to distance himself from music and the industry, vocalist, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Daniel Rossen moved to a remote area of upstate New York and continued to write and record on his own, drummer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Christopher Bear continued playing with various projects and worked on scoring a TV series, and vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer Chris Taylor decided to go West to LA after a one year stint in Berlin. He produced for other artists and made a solo record under the moniker CANT. Taylor, however, got restless. The band's mediator since the beginning, his feet started to itch after the usual six months of downtime. “I kinda kept writing everyone,” he says. “Telling them that we should start making a record. I wanted to be making music with my band again. I stayed busy, I wrote a cook book, produced other people, but my favorite thing to do was work with my band.

For to uger siden udgav hun – ganske uventet – EP’en When I Was Young, der er hendes første udgivelse i tre år. MØ slog for alvor igennem i Danmark i 2014 med debutalbummet No Mythologies to Follow, og i årene efter fik hun sit internationale gennembrud, da hun gæstede Major Lazer på megahittene Lean On i 2015 og Cold Water med Justin Bieber i 2016.

A 12-man jury is sent to Drama begin deliberations in the first-degree murder trial of an 18-year-old Latino accused in the stabbing death of his father - where a guilty verdict means an automatic death sentence. The case appears to be open-and-shut: The defendant has a weak alibi; a knife he claimed to have lost is found at the murder scene; and several witnesses either heard screaming - saw the killing or the boy fleeing the scene. Eleven of the jurors immediately vote guilty; only Juror No. 8 (Mr. Davis) casts a not guilty vote. At first Mr. Davis' bases his vote more so for the sake of discussion after all - the jurors must believe beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant is guilty. As the deliberations unfold - the story quickly becomes a study of the jurors' complex personalities (which range from wise - bright and empathetic to arrogant - prejudiced and merciless) - preconceptions - backgrounds and interactions.
