WHITE CLIFFS RAMBLERS: Walks programme Oct. – Nov. 2020 PLEASE READ THESE NOTES CAREFULLY Covid – 19 Due to COVID-19, we all need to take extra steps to stay safe. Please follow all safety advice given by the walk leader, including the latest guidelines on physical distancing. Please do not attempt to join any walk if: • you have had any of the following symptoms during the previous 7 days – a high temperature, a new continuous cough, the loss, or a change to your sense of smell or taste: OR • If you have recently (within the previous 14 days) had contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid – 19 • You are required to self-isolate following your return to the UK from a designated high-risk destination Group led walks Following on from our successful return to Group led walks we have been able to make some changes to our programme: • We are now able to offer a mix of both long and short walks. However, we are still not able to offer a long walk on a Thursday and a long and short walk on a Sunday: • Following conversations with our walk leaders the numbers permitted to attend each walk has been increased. Each walk leader has determined the number of walkers allowed, up to a maximum of 20: • You will still need to book a place in advance – booking details are to be found for each separate walk: and • We will need to keep a list of those attending each walk for contact and trace purposes. By taking a careful step at a time, we will not be immediately resuming a four-month programme of walks, but rather plan for 6 – 8 weeks.

  • Public Notice
PUBLIC NOTICE KENT COUNTY COUNCIL VARIOUS ROADS, SHEPWAY – SURFACE TREATMENT (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2017 To allow a programme of carriageway surface treatment works to be carried out, together with associated preparation and finishing, Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on various roads throughout East Kent. The roads that are affected in the Shepway area are shown below. The programme is planned to commence in April 2017. The actual dates of closures are yet to be confirmed at the time of going to press. Once known, the planned dates of closures will be notified in advance of the works and indicated by signage displayed on site 14 days before works are due to start. Certain roads may require duplicate closures for patching works (if needed), for the actual surface treatment works, and for the subsequent reinstatement of road markings and adjustment of iron works (road drain covers, manhole covers, etc) needed to suit the new surface. Closures will generally be between the times 07:00 hours and 19:00 hours each day, but this may vary to suit local needs. A temporary speed limit of 20 mph will be in place on certain roads for a period of about 7 days following the treatment. Where this does apply, the 20 mph Speed Limit will be clearly indicated by relevant signs clearly displayed on site. For those roads which are cul-de-sacs with no available diversion, every effort will be made to maintain access for residents, businesses and visitors, whenever it is safe to do so.

Distribution maps for records from 2010 onwards show vice counties 15 and 16 in white (the boundary between is a black line) and local authority boundaries by red lines. See the Kent webpage of the BSBI website at http://www.bsbi.org.uk/kent.html for the full Kent rare plant register list, the introduction to the register and a list of ‘probably extinct’ Kent plants.

LYMINGE SHOWCASE We are holding a Lyminge Showcase on 31st January 2009 to be held at the Methodist Church Hall. This is your opportunity to show or demonstrate what you have to offer in the local area to help everyone enjoy their leisure time It could be a sedentary occupation like painting or sewing, or something a little more energetic like badminton or table tennis. It may encourage more people to join local clubs or at least know who to contact if they wish to have more information. Most of the local clubs and societies should have received a letter inviting them to take part in the Lyminge Showcase but if you have not been contacted and would like to take part, please ring John on 01303 862972.
