DOWN COMMUNITY ARTS 2018/19 PROGRAMME LEARN GROW CONNECT A WAY INTO THE ARTS PROGRAMME DETAILS For 2018/19 community Arts (DCA) will provide an accessible and inclusive programme of activity promoting the Arts across Mourne and Down District Council. The 2018/19 Programme will deliver activity in line with DCA’s new strategy to benefit Individuals, Communities & How We Live through learning, growing & connecting

DCA will deliver:

- 4 projects with rural and socially deprived communities - 6 projects with marginalised young people - 6 projects with older people - 6 projects with children and young people with disability Each of the 4 target groups will be provided with 8 workshops per project providing a total of 176 partipcatory workshops throughout 2018/19

The programme will provide activity in the following art forms:

- Visual Arts - Ceramics - Short film - Radio Theatre Additionally DCA will be working in partnership with voluntary, statutory and private sector bodies to deliver 3 New Initiatives. As yet the new initiatives are still in the development stage and no funding as yet has been sought to deliver. However it is envisaged that throughout 2018/19 DCA will be taking an active role to ensure that the proposed initiatives are delivered. NEW INITIATIVES

DCA has a long history of working with children andadults with disability in partnership with the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust. DCA is proposing to continue its collaboration with the Trust and expand the reach of its work to include other care providers. Taking inspiration from Project Ability, a Glasgow-based visual arts organisation providing opportunities for people with disabilities aged 5 years to 80 plus, to express themselves and achieve artistic excellence. Pop up studio spaces in venues across Newry Mourne and Down District Council specifically for children and adults with disability from varying care settings.

This will be a DCA led project to increase engagement purely in visual arts activity bringing the workproduced to public venues and shared spaces.
