Welcome to the new learning brochure from HMS Warrior 1860. We offer an exciting programme of fun, active and inspiring curriculum linked workshops and study days in a unique environment that cover a wide variety of subjects and interests. We are also happy to work with you to create a special session for your pupils. HMS Warrior launched in 1860 was the pride of Queen Victoria’s fleet. The world’s first iron-hulled armoured battleship, powered by sail and steam, she was the largest, fastest, most powerful ship of her day. The only surviving member of Queen Victoria’s Black Battle Fleet, Warrior has been restored to her original condition and offers four vast decks for you to explore and a unique learning environment for your pupils. They are challenged to demonstrate that they are the best ship’s crew in Queen Victoria’s navy, and pass on their expertise to all the other ships in the fleet — but the sighting of a foreign ship forces the crew to ready themselves for battle. SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS PROVISION HMS Warrior is a hands-on attraction where pupils are encouraged to touch and there are many sounds, smells and textures to be experienced. DISCOVERY VISIT PRICES A Discovery Visit is a self-guided visit to one or a combination of the attractions. Single attraction: £3.55 per pupil Two attractions: £5.60 per pupil Three attractions: £7.60 per pupil PRICING, PAYMENT AND CANCELLATIONS All prices and information in this brochure are correct at the time of print (September 2014). Any changes will be notified when you make a booking. Prices include VAT where applicable. Bookings must be made and paid for in full at least 10 days before the date you wish to visit. Please note, we require 21 full working days’ notice for cancellations. Schools failing to give the required notice may be subject to charges. LUNCHES An indoor lunch area is available for use by your group – space is limited so advanced booking is required. In warmer weather the Porter’s Garden is an ideal picnic spot! TEACHER VISITS For teachers with a confirmed booking, to assist with planning and preparation, we allow free entry for the visit leader and up to two colleagues (if the planning visit is made during the week) or a free family ticket for the visit leader (if the planning visit is made at the weekend or in school holidays).
