In the first leg, Marcello Lippi's Juventus triumphed 4-1 at the Stadio Delle Alpi where Alessandro Del Piero hit a hat-trick (including two penalties) and Zinédine Zidane added a late fourth. • Jean Tigana's Monaco edged the second leg 3-2, their scorers including Thierry Henry, who joined Juventus for an eight-month spell the next year. • The line-ups at Stade Louis II on 15 April 1998 were: Monaco: Barthez, Diawara, Djetou, Christanval, Léonard (Sagnol 65), Martin, Benarbia, Collins, Ikpeba (Spehar 69), Trezeguet, Henry. Juventus: Peruzzi, Torricelli, Birindelli, Iuliano, Dimas, Conte, Tacchinardi, Zidane (Pecchia 59), Pessotto, Del Piero, Inzaghi (Amoruso 5; Davids 71). • Massimiliano Allegri's Juve also beat Monaco, coached then as now by Leonardo Jardim, in the 2014/15 quarter- finals, Arturo Vidal's 57th-minute spot kick in the first leg in Turin the only goal of the tie. • The teams for the goalless draw at the Stade Louis II on 22 April 2015 were: Monaco: Subašić, Raggi, Fabinho, Abdennour, Kurzawa, João Moutinho, Bernardo Silva, Kondogbia, Toulalan (Berbatov 46), Carrasco (Carvalho 87), Martial (Germain 76). They lost 3-0 at AC Milan in a one-off tie in 1993/94 and 4-1 at Juventus in 1997/98, before that 2-2 draw at Chelsea in 2003/04. • In contrast, the Ligue 1 club have won both their home games in European Cup semi-finals. • The full list of Monaco's semi-finals is as follows: 1993/94 AC Milan L 0-3 (0-3 a) 1997/98 Juventus L 4-6 (1-4 a, 3-2 h) 2003/04 Chelsea FC W 5-3 (3-1 h, 2-2 a) • Jardim's team have won six of their seven home matches in this 2016/17 UEFA Champions League, the exception a 1-1 draw with Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the group stage.

  • Football Agents in the Biggest Five European Football Markets an Empirical Research Report
FOOTBALL AGENTS IN THE BIGGEST FIVE EUROPEAN FOOTBALL MARKETS AN EMPIRICAL RESEARCH REPORT FEBRUARY 2012 Raffaele Poli, CIES Football Observatory, University of Neuchâtel Giambattista Rossi, João Havelange Scholarship, Birkbeck University (London) With the collaboration of Roger Besson, CIES Football Observatory, University of Neuchâtel Football agent portrayed by the Ivorian woodcarver Bienwélé Coulibaly Executive summary While intermediaries acting in the transfers of footballers have existed since almost the birth of the professional game, the profession of agent was not officially recognised until 1991 when FIFA established the first official licensing system. In November 2011, there were 6,082 licensed agents worldwide: 41% of them were domiciled within countries hosting the big five European leagues: England, Spain, Germany, Italy and France. This research project firstly investigates shares in the representation market of players in the five major European championships. By presenting the results of a survey questionnaire, it analyses the socio-demographic profile of licensed football agents in the above mentioned countries, the business structure of their activity, the different kinds of services provided, and the way in which they are performed from a relational point of view (network approach). The analysis of shares highlights that the big five league players’ representation market is highly concentrated: half of the footballers are managed by 83 football agents or agencies. Our study reveals the existence of closed relational networks that clearly favors the concentration of players under the control of few agents. Footballers are not equally distributed between intermediaries. Conversely, dominant actors exist alongside dominated agents. One fifth of the agents having answered to our questionnaire manage the career of half of the players represented on the whole.

Italy had taken the lead through an Ernie Brandts own goal but Brandts himself restored parity before Arie Haan struck the Netherlands' winner. • Italy have held the upper hand over the ensuing three decades, during which they have recorded two draws and six wins against the Oranje, including a penalty shoot-out triumph following a goalless semi-final at UEFA EURO 2000™. • Despite playing against ten men from the 34th minute when Gianluca Zambrotta was sent off, the tournament co-hosts paid the price for two missed penalties during normal time.
