His Majesty said in his titah (royal speech) to mark the 23rd National Day of Brunei Darussalam. His Majesty said that we have to be open minded to overcome weaknesses and have a proactive attitude to achieve success in public services. The private sector, said His Majesty, has been urged to contribute to the development of the country, especially in strengthening the country’s Gross Domestic Product through more direct and meaningful economic activities. Non-governmental organisations, said His Majesty, also play an important role in the country’s development with their beneficial activities while the public also have their responsibilities and roles to play. Towards this, His Majesty has consented for the establishment of a committee called the Steering Committee in Providing Services to the Public by Government Agencies. This committee, said His Majesty, will be incorporated into the Prime Minister’s Office and will have the responsibility to improve the quality of services provided to the public.

This reliance increases their vulnerability towards the impacts of climate change, and coping with increased climate variability is a significant challenge for such communities. This research, conducted among the Sa’ban tribe of Long Banga in interior Sarawak, Malaysia, explored observations of local climate change, climate change impacts and tribal adaptation strategies. The results show that drought, wildfires and uncertain weather conditions are the Sa’ban’s primary concerns. However, the tribe have demonstrated their adaptation strategies through the use of traditional ecological knowledge (TEK). ADVISORY TO MALAYSIANS IN NEGARA BRUNEI DARUSSALAM Pursuant to the Restriction of Movement Order announced by the Honourable Prime Minister of Malaysia, effective from 18 March until 31 March 2020 and the Press Release issued by the Ministry of Health Negara Brunei Darussalam on 15 March 2020, the High Commission of Malaysia in Bandar Seri Begawan, Negara Brunei Darussalam wishes to convey the following information: 1. Malaysian citizens and permanent residents of Malaysia in Negara Brunei Darussalam are allowed to return to Malaysia and required to undergo health check and 14 days self-quarantine. 2. Nonetheless, the Ministry of Health, Negara Brunei Darussalam, has issued restrictions for all citizens and residents of Negara Brunei Darussalam (excluding social/visit pass holder) to leave the country including to Malaysia except for certain circumstances. In this regard, requests for permission to leave the country are subject to the approval of the Prime Minister's Office by an application to [email protected]. 3. Foreign visitors who are currently in Malaysia are allowed to leave but, they are not allowed to re-enter the country from 18 March 2020 until 31 March 2020. However foreign tourists are allowed to transit at airports in Kuala Lumpur but limited to immediate transfer only which does not require an inspection at immigration counters and changes of the airport. 4. A complete restriction for all Malaysians going overseas for vacation. 5. All Malaysian in Peninsular Malaysia are not allowed to travel to Sabah and Sarawak and vice versa with exception to those who had travelled before the restriction order took effect.
