Mudah-mudahan dengan kehadiran buku ini dapat menjadi rujukan kepada berbagai pihak yang menaruh Pminat dan perhatian kepada olahraga. Tulisan ini diawali dengan menjelaskan konsep manajeman dalam pembinaan olahraga. Kemudian Penulis menggambarkan secara historis apa saja yang telah dilakukan oleh para tokoh dan pelaku olahraga dalam memenej kontingen PON Sumatera Barat semenjak tampil di PON II tahun 1951 di Bandung. Pembinaan olahraga prestasi di Sumatera Barat cukup baik, hal itu terlihat dari rangking Sumatera Barat dalam pelaksanaan PON, pada pelaksanaan PON Ke-10 di Jakarta tahun 1981 Sumatera Barat mampu berada diurutan kedelapan, bahkan Pada pelaksanaan PON Ke-11 tahun 1985 di Jakarta Sumbar mampu berada diurutan 7 (tujuh) dengan 19 medali emas, 14 perak dan 15 perunggu. Prestasi ini juga menjadi prestasi terbaik Sumbar selama keikutsertaan dalam PON hingga saat ini. Semangat untuk membina olahraga prestasi di Sumbar semakin terasa dengan dimulainya pelaksanaan Porda Pertama di Sumbar tahun 1986, dimana Kota Padang ditunjuk sebagai kota penyelenggara. Dalam buku ini akan ditemukan bagaimana sejarah dan peristiwa pelaksanaan Porda ke Porda (Porprov) di Sumatera Barat. Dalam upaya pembinaan olahraga prestasi terdapat banyak faktor sebagai penentu.. Kesemua faktor tersebut hendaklah mendapatkan perhatian dalam proses pembinaan. Faktor-faktor tersebut diantaranya, mekanisme organisasi, kompetisi, kualifikasi pelatih, wasit, atlet, sarana dan prasarana, sistem keejahteraan pelaku olahraga, serta dukungan dana. Pada kesempatan ini penulis mengucapkan terimakasih pada saudara Firdaus wartawan senior dan almarhum Bapak Syaiful Bahri, yang menginspirasi untuk vi Syahrial Bakhtiar menulis buku ini bahkan memberikan bahan. Terima kasih juga disampaikan kepada Abang H. The middle-income group athletes in the ages of 15-16 are about to sit for their Ordinary Level Examinations so they are in a severe dilemma choosing between studies and the sports. In this aspect the parents play a huge role in the young athletes’ future as a sportsperson. Another aspect that should not be overlooked is the role that the coach plays in the career of the athlete. When an athlete spurts-out to fame – making a major accomplishment i.e., Parami Wasanthi winning the Youth Olympic Bronze medal. The impact that was made in the aftermath was irritable for the athlete.

    ACROSS THE NET Melton Table Tennis September 2016 SPRING SEASON UNDERWAY, AGM COMING, OLYMPIC WRAP, & PARALYMPIC PREVIEW In this edition we look at our current season, the upcoming AGM and the Sunbury Challenge, I rant about coverage that was worse than a thin sheet full of holes on a winter’s night, and we preview the upcoming Paralympic Games in Rio. SPRING IS IN THE AIR - AND ON THE TABLES Our Spring season is underway, and it’s great to see new faces at the tables. Once again we have 4 grades in action, and things are looking good for some tough competition. There will be a mid-season break from pennant play for the school holidays, but we still have things going on. On Thursday the 22nd of September Melton Table Tennis will be holding its Annual General Meeting. This is an important part of the club’s administration where office-bearers are elected to maintain the smooth and correct running of the club for the next 12 months. If you are interested in joining the dedicated group of volunteers, please feel free to nominate for office. At the conclusion of the AGM, the club will be open for practice and social play. Thursday the 29th sees the annual challenge match between Melton and Sunbury Table Tennis Club. This year it will be held at Sunbury and teams will be selected based on the Ratings Central gradings to try to make the competition fair and even. Selection for this event will be made closer to the date. Over recent years, Sunbury have given us a bit of a caning at these challenges, winning 8 tables to 1 in 2014, and 7 tables to 3 last year, but we hope to put up a good showing at this year’s match LAUNCH OF TABLE TENNIS X-TREME The International Table Tennis Federation has launched a new version of table tennis to try to encourage greater participation from new players.

    SINGAPORE DANCESPORT FEDERATION SELECTION POLICY FOR SHANTOU 2021 ASIAN YOUTH GAMES (BREAKING) 20 November 2021 to 28 November 2021 1. EVENTS The draft proposal of Shantou 2021 Asian Youth Games, which will be held in Shantou, China from 20 Nov 2021 to 28 Nov 2021, states that each NOC in Asia may send a maximum of 2 male & 2 female (4 athletes) and each athlete may participate in a maximum of 1 event each. 2. GOALS & OBJECTIVES To achieve top 16 position in the events contested. 3. SELECTION COMMITTEE The selection committee will consist of the following members: a) Breaking Lead appointed by SGDF; a. Felix Huang b) Head Coach (Breaking representative under SGDF); a. Gerald Chan c) Advisors ( Selection Panel ) a. Adriel Ng Desheng b. Muhammad Shadiq bin Mohd ilias c. Muhd Farhan bin Muhd Nor 4. ELIGIBILITY AND CONSIDERATION PERIOD i. For easy of documentation, consideration dates are from 1 May 2021 ‐ 31 Sept 2021. ii. All athletes must be born between 1 Jan 2004 ‐ 31 Dec 2007. iii. All athletes must maintain their membership with the Singapore DanceSport Federation (SGDF during the period in (i)). iv. All athletes to be considered for the Shantou 2021 Asian Youth Games must be Singapore Citizens at the time of nomination; and fulfil the eligibility under the regulations from the Asian Games Federation, and/or DanceSportAsia v. To date, most breaking competitions lack an official, centralised institution or federation to verify results. As breaking continues to gain international recognition as a competitive event, the selection committee foresees corresponding changes in the way breaking competitions are organised and verified.
