Main research topic: ‘Connectivity of coral reef ecosystems to help marine biodiversity conservation and management of marine resources’. My research activities focus on population genetics and phylogeography of coral reefs organisms, with emphasis on connectivity of coral reef organisms and the impact of natural/anthropogenic disturbance on the genetic diversity and geographic structuring of marine populations. UNIVERSITY EDUCATION 2012 HDR : Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches, Antilles and Guyana University 1998-2002 PhD in Biological Oceanography. University of Pierre et Marie Curie (UPMC), France. 1996-1998 MSc in Biological Oceanography. University of Paris, France. 1993-1996 BSc in Biology. University of Amiens, France. PAST EMPLOYMENTS 2007 Post-doc, University of Perpignan, France. Phylogeography of several coral reef fishes throughout the Indo-Pacific and characterization of microsatellites loci for the humbug damselfish Dascyllus aruanus. 2006-2007 Post-doc, University of Bologna in Ravenna, Italy. Impacts of artificial structure introductions on genetic diversity and connectivity of marine invertebrates in the North Adriatic Sea. 2003-2005 Post-Doc, NWO research fellow. Institute of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Dynamic (IBED), University of Amsterdam. Spatial and temporal genetic population structure of tropical butterflies in pristine and disturbed habitats. 1998-2002 PhD in Biological Oceanography, French Ministry of Research grant. University of Paris, France (under supervision of Dr. Serge Planes). Influence of biological characteristics and species history on a metapopulation structure in a fragmented insular environment: the case of coral reef fishes in French Polynesia. COMPETENCES AND TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE Extensive fieldwork/diving experience in marine environment (French Polynesia, New Caledonia, Indonesia, Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Hawaii, Lesser Antilles, Mayotte, Red Sea, Mediterranean Sea, Madagascar) including post-larvae collection and rearing - Fieldwork experience in tropical rainforests (French Polynesia, Panama, Indonesia). Molecular techniques: Experienced with various molecular techniques (extractions, PCR, electrophoresis, cloning, sequencing…), in characterizing genetic markers (allozymes, EPIC-PCR, microsatellites, mtDNA), on different DNA fragments analyzers (ABI, Li-Cor, Pharmacia Biotech, Beckman Coulter). Has worked in eight different molecular lab during the past ten years (Montpellier and Perpignan in France, UC Santa Cruz, Smithsonian Tropical Research Institution in Panama, University van Amsterdam in the Nederlands, University of Bologna at Ravenna in Italy, Guadeloupe and New Caledonia) and with various organisms (fishes, butterflies, serpulids, limpets, corals, giant clams, holothurians…). Supervision of eight undergraduate students and three PhD students.
