DEPARTMENT OF TELECOMMUNICATION (Nauru Media Bureau)

POSITION : Radio Announcer SALARY SCALE : Band 4 - $6, 250pa REPORTS TO : Manager of Radio, Assistant Director & Director of Media

PRIMARY PURPOSE : Radio Announcer works shift hours live on air for 5 hours between 6am and 12am. Radio Announcers communicates with the general public informing them of various announcements, public notices including world and local news. Radio Announcers at times conduct interviews on air pre-record.

RESPONSIBILITIES;  Performs on-air shifts in a professional and timely manner.  Source stories news item.  Write links for stories/news items and announcements for broadcast.  Interview talent both live-to-air and/or pre-recorded.  Prepare and review program materials prior to broadcast.  Required to supplement time with program preparation and/or any other duties required.  Assist the Manager Radio where required and as requested.  Talking to other/public on-air to convey information effectively.  Giving full attention to what order other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.  Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.  Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.  Monitoring/assessing performance of yourself, other individuals or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.

REQUIRED SKILLS:  The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.  The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.  The ability to identify and understand the speech of another person.  The ability to speak clearly so others can understand you.  The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.  Develop ability to write and produce interviews and feature reports.  Ability to develop strong on-air presence.  Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing (Nauruan & English)  Able to give full attention to what others are saying, to take time to understand points being and to ask questions as appropriate.  Must be prepared to work 4hours a week and extra time on weekends and public holidays when required.

DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH & MEDICAL SERVICES

POSITION : HEALTH TRAINEES NO. OF POSITIONS : EIGHT (8) SALARY : $6,250 per annum

a) Nursing - You will be required to undertake 7 subjects at Foundation level (equivalent to form 7 – i.e. PSSC or Fiji Form 6/Year 12) b) Medicine, Environment Health, Dietician, Dentistry, Radiography, Pharmacy, Laboratory and other health related positions – you will be required to undertake 7 subjects at foundation level (equivalent to form 7 – i.e. SPBEA Form 7, Fiji Form 7/Australia Year 12). c) Health Administration - you will be required to undertake 7 subjects at foundation level (equivalent to form 7 – i.e. SPBEA Form 7, Fiji Form 7/Australia Year 12).

 The foundation courses mentioned above could be less depending on High School passing results.  The USP subjects include English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Social Science  There will be a timetable of fixed tutorial, laboratory sessions and “free study” hours for each week where attendance is mandatory.  Clinical experience attachment at the RON Hospital or Naoero Public Health Centre in the area of your chosen field of study is mandatory.

Applicants must meet the following criteria  Between the ages of 18-25 years  Preferably Single status  Interested in pursuing further studies either in Nauru or overseas  Must meet the minimum academic qualification as followed;
