In our research we use it to support military historical reconstruction. We deal with the Attila lines, which was a defence line around Budapest in World War II. Our goal was a particular and dependable reconstruction, which contains environmental, object and, event parts. To complete this task we had to collect and manage a lot of variable-quality archive data. This information came from different sources: libraries, archives, archive maps and arial photographs, field measrements, and personal reminiscences. We can manage this information in a standard system with GIS. This database can be used as a reference system to support further research and to identify new parts of the defence line. Using the attributes we can make queries and various reviews. The database is usable as a digital data archive, too. Our next research goal is to follow the search of the Attila lines and other defence lines and to present them to the wider scientific and public audiance. 1. The user can create various queries and In areas where map-based data collection, data handling and reviews using the complete data base, classify and visualize the service are in use, it is indispensable to use this modern objects on the grounds of selected attributes (Detreki, 2002).

DR. 1. ábra A Gödöllői-dombság települései Kistérségek határa Közigazgatási határok Települések belterülete Készítette: Benő Dávid doktorandusz. Forrás: Kistájkataszter OTAB. A Gödöllői-dombság természetföldrajzi kistáj. Military maps were derived from the 1770s until the 1890s and later from the CORINE Land Cover map. I observed the transition direction of areal distribution of various land uses. Digitalized maps showed 19–20th century land-use conditions; besides them, we created a grouping system which is based on the intensity of land use. We distinguished six land-use types, ranking them according to the anthropogenic influence (1. built-up areas; 2. arable fields; 3. orchards and vineyards; 4. meadows and pastures; 5. forests; 6. wetlands). Keywords: historical maps, land stability, land use 1. Introduction In the past few decades, several studies have been written about the research on landscape change [1, 2, 3, 4, 5], which help to understand the rapid changes in the spatial structure of the landscape. They are also trying to provide a starting point for landscape planning by means of using different approaches and aspects.

  • The Role of Land Use Change on Water Erosion in the Gödöllő Hillside 1
The role of land use change on water erosion in the Gödöllő Hillside Demény, K.1 – Jakab, G. – Centeri, Cs. 1Budapest Tech Polytechnical Institute Rejtő Sándor, Faculty of Light Industry and Environmental Protection Engineering, Doberdó út 6, H-1034 Budapest, Hungary. Tel: +36-16665941, Fax: +36-16665909, E-mail: [email protected] 1. Abstract The landscape of Hungary has changed radically in the past decades. As a result of an intensive need for land use (spreading of residential areas, greenfield investments etc.) the natural environment has been diminishing. On the other hand, the needs of society for intact areas have been increased more and more. The Gödöllő Hillside has a big environmental stress, because it is situated close to the Budapest agglomeration. In the recent years, the effects of suburbanisation manifest more significantly since the population has already started moving out from the capital city. Some settlements can meet the expanded requirements if they establish new residential areas. As a result of previous the area of cultivated lands has reduced whereas the amount of built up areas has increased. Due to a change in land use, such as the new roads, lots of houses and ever shrinking agriculture and sylviculture, the spatial structure becomes more and more fragmented. The fragmented spatial structure and hillside relief enhance the erosion processes. The observed hillside area is one of the mostly eroded lands in Hungary. The erosion processes can be stopped just in time applying the tendencies written in the survey. We show erosion maps using USLE model. In this way, the mostly endangered slopes can be determined.

INTRODUCTION Since KUTHY’s (1897) volume on Coleoptera in the Fauna Regni Hungariae no complete list of the Elateridae of Hungary has been published. KUTHY men- tioned 148 species (including Drapetes cinctus (PANZER, 1796) in the family Euc- nemidae) known to occur in Hungary, but many of his records refer to former Hun- garian regions now belonging to Slovakia, the Ukraine, Romania, Serbia and Croatia. A number of species listed by him are not expected to occur in present-day Hungary, either because they belong to the fauna of the higher regions of the Carpathian Mountains or because they are species with a more southern distribu- * Corresponding author.
