Your email dated 14th of May 2014 confirming Brent’s secondary school expansion programme was much appreciated. We would like to further that correspondence by arranging a meeting between officers from both boroughs. In particular it would be helpful to share information on demand for school places and your planned provision. The meeting could also establish if there is any scope for further shared provision across both boroughs to satisfy demand in the areas of greatest need following our successful project at Vicars Green Primary School. On top of conducting various feasibility studies on existing schools and expanding on both a permanent and temporary basis with bulge classes, you may also be interested in the work we are undertaking jointly with the Planning Policy team here. We are in the process of taking a Planning for Schools DPD thorough the DPD process to identify sites for new schools. Whilst we have already formally consulted your Planning Policy department on the initial consultation, if you or your Planning Policy colleagues would like further information or to discuss the content or progress, please contact either myself or Samantha Powell in Ealing Planning Policy at [email protected]. If you would like more details about our school expansion programme at both primary and high school level we are happy to arrange the meeting. We can also send over recent reports on birth projections and school expansion plans we have taken to Cabinet, published statutory proposals on and taken to consultation. The details of our Planning for Schools DPD are also available at your request. We look forward to meeting with you in the near future. The cross borough meeting held on the 3rd of September between the London Borough of Harrow, Ealing and Hillingdon was very helpful as it gave a forum to share information on the demand for school places, planned provision within the boroughs and to share intelligence on Free School providers. The meeting gave us the opportunity to establish if there is any scope for shared provision to help satisfy demand in the areas of greatest need and it is clear that there is that possibility and further discussion is most definitely welcomed our end. Free School applications both in the pipeline and approved and any intelligence on other providers 3. Discussion on SEN provision As part of our school place planning and on top of conducting various feasibility studies on existing schools and expanding on both a permanent and temporary basis with bulge classes, you may also be interested in the work we are undertaking jointly with the Planning Policy team here. We will endeavour to maintain the level of inter-borough correspondence that we have had and will also continue to keep you abreast of any updates and new information.
