With the locator tabs in place, rock the upper handguard downwards until it interfaces with the barrel nut. Step 2: With the upper handguard in place, position the barrel nut clamp around the bottom of the barrel nut and secure from the top with the six provided wired screws. (The base of the #50™M-CV sling swivel can be used to tighten the screws.) Step 3: With the interlocking lugs of the lower and upper handguards spaced between each other, the lower handguard can be slapped upwards into place and pulled appr. 1” rearwards into the locking position. Step 4: To lock the lower handguard in place, push in the spring loaded rear locking buttons and turn until the two scallops on the head of the button are facing downwards. Using the supplied sling swivel tool, secure the captivated screw on the side accessory rail into the upper handguard assembly to complete the installation process. #50™M-CV Accessory Rail Installation To install a desired accessory rail onto the #50™M-CV, release the handguard locking buttons and slide the handguard forward.

In this and future articles, we’ll be looking at just a FEW of items that I thought were neat enough to write about. Now, mind you, there are hundreds if not thousands of parts and add-ons for the AR in its multitude of configurations and I am only going to look at a few of them. I really do not want to turn into an AR writer for the rest of my life because with the quantity of aftermarket parts that are available this could be easily done… (But seriously, if you find something TRULY unique…..please let us know.) I’ve been talking with several of my shooting buddies both in person and on line and it just seems that the AR bug has bitten all of them in one form or another. One friend ended up trading some computer work for a match grade Bushmaster AR full size rifle. Another was talking about how he was building up “yet another” AR rifle, this one decked out as the 1970’s issued style M16. Add in the recent article by Jamie on his AR sniper set up and a friend showing me an original COLT AR rifle (sans forward assist), AR rifles abound everywhere.

The Stolle Family of Rifle Actions ALUMINUM ACTIONS The use of aluminum in rifle actions has been the ultimate goal of many people for a number of decades. First developed by Ralph W. Stolle in the late 60’s and the early 70’s, the Stolle line of actions emerged after many changes in design and techniques. The rigidity and light weight characteristics are highly desirable features, a must in today’s competitive benchrest rifles. Made entirely of 7075-T651 aircraft aluminum and 4140 alloy steel, they insure the optimum in stiffness and durability. The Panda action pictured here gives a good view of the steel insert used in the thread/locking lug area. All aluminum models are of the square, flat-bottomed design to give a much greater and longer-lasting bedding area, which is desirable in precision rifles. Lightness in weight affords the use of heavier and stiffer barrels as well as aiding in balance. All models employ an integral full length 60° degree dovetail or Picatinny style rail on the top. Either rib style is available parallel to or tilted 0° 20’ to the bore for long range use. This rib serves a dual purpose — added basic stiffness, plus built-in high precision scope mount bases. OPTIONAL TG EJECTOR The TG Ejector, developed in house by Tom Griffin, is a mechanical ejector that solves problems encountered in using spring based ejectors. This ejector requires an action designed specifically for its use. STEEL ACTIONS Kelbly's entry into steel action manufacture has led to the revival of the Grizzly name for the stainless or chrome moly Grizzly II centerfire action.
