This week the activity level on campus picked up dramatically, as we had over 1100 student-athletes and coaches on our campuses preparing for the impending fall season! I would like to thank all of you for your tireless efforts, patience, and flexibility as we worked through this situation and officially started fall practices. We will continue to do everything in our power to ensure our student-athletes train and compete in a safe environment, as we prepare for the return to interscholastic competitions. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you in advance for your continued support. This season is not going to be the same fall season that we are accustomed to in Downingtown; packed stands, friends and family in attendance, our beloved student sections cheering on our teams. This season we will be faced with many challenges, challenges that together we will overcome. Our teams will play a modified schedule, spectators will be limited, social distancing will be enforced, masks, and other safety measures will be in place. We are committed to doing our best to provide our student-athletes, families, and school communities with a safe, enjoyable experience. One thing will remain a constant; our student-athletes will train and compete with excellence and they will benefit from the lifelong lessons athletics teaches. Due to the current situation, we will be making several adjustments to our program. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate any post game gatherings of any kind in our buildings or on school property. Transportation DASD will provide transportation to away contests, consistent with our district Health and Safety Plan. However, this season parents will be permitted to provide transportation to and from away competitions if they so choose. Further details will be shared next week. Spectators DASD and the Ches-Mont League are currently following the guidelines of (25) for indoor gatherings and (250) for outdoor gatherings. The Ches-Mont League is developing a policy for spectators that is consistent with all member schools and provides safety and security for all of our constituents. Further details will be shared next week. Activity Fees Information will be sent next week regarding activity fees. .

    A Message from our Board Chairman Dear Friends of the Food Bank, It is my pleasure to bring you our 2014-2015 Annual Report. After six strong years of dedicated leadership as Chairman of the Board, Bob McNeil has stepped down as chair but remains actively involved in this dynamic organization. This year was exciting for the Food Bank as we expanded our staff, deepened our programming and reached farther into our communities where our neighbors are in need. Unfortunately, even in Chester County, hunger is a reality for many of those in our community. Since the inception of the Chester County Food Bank in 2009 our organization has continued a path of growth in an effort to meet the need of our neighbors and broaden our understanding of what it means to be the best Food Bank we can be for Chester County. In addition to our dedicated staff, our Board of Directors, our community partners and donors like you - we could not make anything happen without our thousands of volunteers. The generosity and impact that you and the community make in helping our neighbors is tremendous. Please know that we will work to be as efficient and effective as we possibly can be as we move forward. I feel strongly that we can all rally around the efforts we are making to alleviate hunger as we create new pathways to improve health and nutrition education in order to help those living in poverty in Chester County.     FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE [email protected] MOON AREA HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT-ATHLETE NAMED GATORADE PENNSYLVANIA GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY PLAYER OF THE YEAR CHICAGO (April 8, 2021) — In its 36th year of honoring the nation’s best high school athletes, The Gatorade Company today announced Mia Cochran of Moon Area High School as its 2020-21 Gatorade Pennsylvania Girls Cross Country Player of the Year. Cochran is the first Gatorade Pennsylvania Girls Cross Country Player of the Year to be chosen from Moon Area High School. The award, which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field, distinguishes Cochran as Pennsylvania’s best high school girls cross country player. Now a finalist for the prestigious Gatorade National Girls Cross Country Player of the Year award to be announced in April, Cochran joins an elite alumni association of state award-winners in 12 sports, including Lukas Verzbicas (2010-11, 2009-10, Carl Sandburg High School, Orland Park, Ill.), Megan Goethals (2009-10, Rochester High School, Rochester Hills, Mich.), Jordan Hasay (2008-09, Mission College Preparatory Catholic High School, San Luis Obispo, Calif.) and Chris Derrick (2007-08, Neuqua Valley High School, Naperville, Ill.). The 5-foot-5 junior won the Class AAA individual state championship this past season with a time of 18:28. Cochran also captured the District 7 championship, the PIAA Foundation Invitational and the Red, White & Blue Classic. She took ninth at the XC Town USA Meet of Champions. Cochran has served as a tutor for younger children and has volunteered locally on behalf of a nursing home.
