Farriers Wairarapa Bush Vs East Coast Saturday 2Nd September Trust House Memorial Park Heartlands 100Th Game Farriers Wairarapa Bush vs East Coast Saturday 2nd September Trust House Memorial Park Heartlands 100th game The Wairarapa–Bush rugby team celebrates winning the Heartland Championship at Cooks Gardens, Whanganui, in October 2006. The team beat Wanganui 16–14. Message from the Wairarapa Bush President As President, I would like to welcome you all to the home of Wairarapa Bush Rugby. To all the officials, players and supporters a feast of rugby and hospitality is on offer for you all to enjoy. Today four games are being played at Trust House Memorial Park; Under 14s vs Manawatu, Tranzit Wairarapa Bush U18s vs Wanganui, Jackson Street Bar Wairarapa Bush Development vs Wellington Maori and Farriers Wairarapa Bush go head to head with East Coast. A full day of rugby at its best. East Coast has a proud tradition formed in 1922, known as Ngati Porou East Coast. They can lay claim to the great George Nepia who played club rugby there and Andy Jeffard. They are a team that always play an entertaining style of rugby and will ensure that the home team is truly tested. Where ever East Coast play, many locals find that they have connections to the Coast and whatever the result a good after match can be guaranteed with many stories told. As always, we have the best supporters club in the Heartland. The Gravel Pit will be open to welcome all. A visit to the club is always an experience and the support they give the union is much appreciated. In conclusion, enjoy the day and please remember that the referees and the side line officials are there to make our game safe and enjoyable and will as always accept good natured banter, abuse is unnecessary and is unacceptable. To all our Sponsors thank you for your continued support and I encourage all the rugby fraternity to support our sponsors whenever possible. Richard Dahlberg President WBRFU. Message from the Wairarapa Bush Chairman A very warm welcome to everyone here today at Trust House Memorial Park including Ngati Porou East Coast, Wellington Maori, Wanganui U18's, Manawatu U14's and all their supporters, officials and management groups. Today marks the 100th Wairarapa Bush Heartland Rugby Game played in New Zealand since it started in 2006 replacing the Air New Zealand NPC Division Two and Three. All teams have much to play for today with both the Local Heartland and the Development sides needing to get their season back on track with a win. Thanks to the many people who travelled to Wanganui last weekend to support our boys. I know they appreciated the support. Congratulations to all the players selected in representative teams and we hope you enjoy your rugby as much as we enjoy watching you play it. Have a great day and a safe travel home. Tim Nathan.
