Western & Southern Open Defending Champions Headline Doubles Fields CINCINNATI (Aug. 11, 2020) – Both the women’s and men’s defending champions are among the initial entries to play doubles at the 2020 Western & Southern Open, which will be held Aug. 20-28 at the USTA Billie Jean King Tennis Center in New York. The 2019 WTA doubles winners – Lucie Hradecka and Andreja Klepac – are joined by the ATP Tour champions – Ivan Dodig and Filip Polasek – to headline the early entries. Other notable entries on the women’s side include the teenage pairing of Cincinnati’s 18-year-old Caty McNally and 16-year-old Coco Gauff. Dubbed “McCoco,” the duo won a pair of WTA titles in 2019 – at Washington, D.C. and Luxembourg – and reached the US Open Round of 16. Elise Mertens and Aryna Sabalenka, who finished 2019 atop the WTA Porsche Race to Shenzen as the season’s No. 1 team, are also in the field. Reigning Australian Open singles champion Sofia Kenin, a 21-year- old American, has entered with former Western & Southern Open singles and doubles winner Victoria Azarenka. The top two teams in the ATP Tour doubles race are entered in the men’s draw. The No. 1 team of Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah is returning after reaching two straight Western & Southern Open finals. They are joined in the field by the No. 2 team of Lukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo. The ATP Tour No. 1 ranked singles player, Novak Djokovic, has entered the doubles draw with countryman Filip Krajinovic. An additional five women’s teams and six men’s duos will join the fields through on-site entries, while the tournament will award three wild cards into each draw to complete the 32-team fields.

Klingt irgendwie eingebildet. Erwachsen? Der Junge ist doch noch ein Teenager. Cool?

  • Press Release April 28, 2018
Press Release April 28, 2018 41st Porsche Tennis Grand Prix – Summary Day 8 Coco Vandeweghe and Karolina Pliskova in the final Stuttgart. Premiere for Coco Vandeweghe and Karolina Pliskova: the American and Czech will on Sunday contest the final of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix for the first time. In front a 4,500 crowd in the once again sold-out Porsche Arena, Coco Vandeweghe was a comfortable 6-4, 6-2 winner against the Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia. Karolina Pliskova also ended the sensational winning streak of the Estonian Anett Kontaveit at the 41st edition of the long-established Stuttgart tournament by exactly the same score. Clay is by no means Coco Vandeweghe’s preferred surface which makes it all the more surprising that she has progressed such a long way at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix. In posting wins against the US Open winner Sloane Stephens, the world No. 1 Simona Halep and now Caroline Garcia in the semifinals on Saturday, she has been the nemesis of three Top 10 players in the Porsche Arena, but not only as she also ended Laura Siegemund’s hopes of a successful title defence. Such a winning streak is a real confidence booster. Against Caroline Garcia, the world No. 7 from Lyon, who knocked superstar Maria Sharapova out of her favourite tournament in the first round, Coco Vandeweghe went on the attack right from the moment play started – and clinched victory with her first match point after only 74 minutes. The ease with which she won her first semifinal at the long-established Stuttgart tournament led immediately afterwards to the question as to whether it really had been so easy as it had looked.

Hailing from Fielderstadt, Germany, Laura has recently become a resident of Viera, FL. Although traveling/touring most of the year, she will be using Suntree Country Club as her off season home base for training. Laura’s connection to Suntree Country Club is through Head Tennis Professional, Paul Davis, who has been an active member of her coaching team as the doubles specialist. “A big congratulations to Laura for her performance over the last couple weeks at the Open! We have put together some solid game plans that Laura and Vera executed to a T. We have been saying for a couple years now that she was ready to win a major doubles title with the correct partner and circumstances and she just proved that analysis correct! I can't say how proud of Laura I am and our team,” said Paul Davis. The unseeded duo defeated No.3 seeds Nicole Melichar (USA) and Xu Yifan (China) 6-4, 6-4, on Friday at Arthur Ashe Stadium to claim the title.
