(2) Following a request from Mr Geoff Provest pursuant to standing order 131 (3), the Deputy Premier, Minister for Regional New South Wales, Minister for Skills, and Minister for Small Business provided additional information. (3) Following a request from Ms Felicity Wilson pursuant to standing order 131 (3), the Minister for Education provided additional information. Disorder: At 2.56 pm, the Deputy Speaker directed Ms Kate Washington to leave the Chamber for two hours. _____________ 9 PAPER Mr Paul Toole tabled the report of the Border Fence Maintenance Board for 2017. 10 PETITIONS The Clerk announced that the following members had each lodged petitions for presentation: Mr Alex Greenwich—from certain citizens opposing the sale of animals in pet shops. Mr Alex Greenwich—from certain citizens requesting the Government ban the permanent conversion of homes into short-term holiday lets and introduce a registration system so appropriate controls can be enforced. Ms Tamara Smith—from certain citizens requesting the Legislative Assembly ensure the development of West Byron will not detract the importance of Byron Bay as a tourist attraction and adversely affect Ewingsdale Road, the koala population, wetlands and Cape Byron Marine Park. Mr Alex Greenwich—from certain citizens requesting the Government upgrade rather than rebuild the Sydney Football Stadium and direct the savings into health, education and community sports facilities. Question passed. 12 NOTICES OF MOTIONS SOUGHT TO BE ACCORDED PRIORITY (1) Mr John Sidoti made a statement in support of his notice being accorded priority over the other business of the House. (2) Mr Ryan Park also made a statement in support of his notice being accorded priority— That this House: (1) Notes that the Government has made New South Wales the highest taxing state in the history of the Australian Federation. (2) Expresses concern that New South Wales residents now pay on average $4,570 of taxes per year which is $1,246 more than what they paid in 2011-12 and $321 more than what Victorian residents pay. (3) Condemns the Government for wasting this increased taxation on a $2.2 billion stadiums splurge, cost blowouts for the CBD light rail and WestConnex, and advertising campaigns for failed policies such as the Fire and Emergency Services Levy, greyhound racing ban and forced council amalgamations. First, I acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which we meet, their ancestors past and present, the Gadigal people of the Eora nation. I would also like to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land that now forms the electorate of Prospect. They are: the Toogagal people, the Boo-bain-ora people, the Bidgigal people, all peoples of the Eora nation, also the Cabrogal people of the Darug nation. Especially, I want to recognise and pay my respects to perhaps the greatest leader of the Eora nation, Pemulwuy. I hope that one day we will be able to honour him with the respect he deserves and return his remains to the land he loved in the seat of Prospect. It is wonderful to stand here as the first member to hold the newly created seat of Prospect.
