QUALIFICATIONS In accordance with Article 4.1 of the WTF Para Taekwondo Competition Rules: Qualification of Contestant, the contestant must be: CRITERION #1: Holder of the nationality of the participating team CRITERION #2: An athlete recommended by a WTF recognized Member National Association CRITERION #3: Holder of a Para Taekwondo Dan issued by the WTF or a MNA recognized 5-1 Geup CRITERION #4: Holder of valid WTF Global Athlete Licence (GAL). CRITERION #5: An athlete must be at the age of at least 16 years old of the 2017 IWAS World Games. The athlete must be born before December 31st, 2001 CRITERION #6: Athlete must go through classification and be assigned Sport Class and Sport Class Status before the competition. Classification of Kyorugi new “N” athletes will take place on December 2, 2017 6. WORLD RANK The Para Taekwondo Competitions of the 2017 IWAS World Games holds a Para Taekwondo World Ranking G6 status. This makes the event the second highest ranking competition after the WTF World Para Taekwondo Championships. COMPETITION RULES 1) WTF Para Taekwondo Competition Rules 2) WTF Athlete Classification Rules 3) Seeding will be done in accordance with the WTF World Ranking Bylaw and the latest version of the WTF Para Taekwondo World Ranking 8. TEAM ENTRIES Athletes Member National Associations may enter as many athletes as they wish in each Sport Class and Weight Division for the 2017 IWAS World Games. Entries should be made in accordance with the WTF Para Taekwondo K40 Classification Master list. The latest athlete classification master list can be found on the WTF webpage. WTF LICENSE All athletes and Team officials must be registered with a WTF License. Notice: There will be “NO” WTF Licence registration onsite. Please be sure you have valid License in order to register for the 2017 IWAS World Games. 11. REGISTRATION All entries must be done as follows: All athletes and team officials must be registered by name and position in the IWAS Management System (IMS). This is done through the IWAS Member Nation. In the case that a World Taekwondo Federation Member National Association does not have a IWAS Member Nation for their country please contact IWAS for further instructions at [email protected]. A recent passport sized photo, with a clear, light coloured background must be uploaded to the entry system for every member of the delegation. Accreditations will be available upon arrival to the Games In the case you have any issues with registrations in the IWAS Management System please contact the Organizing Committee. All athletes and team officials also must be registered for the 2017 IWAS World Games through the WTF Global Membership System (GMS). Here the athletes will be entered in the correct Sport Class and weight division. INCLUSIVE DAY RATES The Organizing Committee for the 2017 IWAS World Games offers an all-inclusive day rate of €100/day/person. This includes accommodation and full board (breakfast, packed lunch and dinner) at the Yellow Praia Monte Gordo (4-star hotel), airport transport, local transport to the sport venue and Opening and Closing ceremonies. Single occupancy rooms are charged at a supplement. If single rooms are unavoidable due to numbers/gender of teams, please contact [email protected] to arrange separately. ENTRY DEADLINES AND IMPORTANT DATES 1) July 5, 2017 Registrations open in the IWAS Management System and in the WTF GMS System 2) October 1, 2017 Registrations closes in the WTF GMS System. 3) October 2, 2017 All Registration fees and Inclusive Day Rates are due 15. CLASSIFICATION Athletes that has not previously been classified, i.e. athletes with a New "N" Sport Class Status that have not previously gone through international classification will be classified. Classification will be held on December 2, 2017. A schedule for teams and athletes will be set up by the AFTU/OC in consultation with the WTF and communicated to all teams in due course. Please note that the WTF reserves the right to call any athlete to International Classification even if the athlete holds a different Sport Class Status than NEW. CLASSIFICATION SCREENING In the case that you are uncertain if your athlete will meet the Minimal Impairment Criteria (MIC) for participation in the K40 Sport Classes please find attached Classification Screening Form. Fill out the form and send it back to the WTF at [email protected] along with photos of the athlete’s impairment and relevant medical documentation. The information will be passed on to the WTF Classification Committee and you will be provided an answer to if your athlete meets MIC or not. The Classification Screening process can take up to one (1) month. Accordingly, please submit your documentation in a timely manner. Please be advised that Classification Screening does not replace classification and that the athlete will still have to go through classification at the championships. 17. DURATION OF CONTEST All Para Taekwondo competitions will be held in accordance with the most up to date WTF Para Taekwondo Competition Rules. Competitions will be held over three (3) rounds of two (2) minutes. Slight adjustments to the round length might be made for the K41 Sport Class. 18. PROTECTOR AND SCORING SYSTEM HIT LEVELS Daedo Generation 2 PSS will be used during the Para Taekwondo Competitions of the 2017 IWAS World Games and the following sizes and hit levels will be used: Male Hogu size Hit level Under 61 kg 2 15 Under 75 kg 3 18 Over 75 kg 4 19 Female Hogu size Hit level Under 49 kg 2 13 Under 58 kg 2 15 Over 58 kg 3 16 Outline for the 2017 IWAS World Games – Para Taekwondo P 5 IWAS WORLD GAMES 2017 Nov. 30 – Dec. 6, 2017 / Vila Real de Santo Antonio, Portugal 19. CONSOLIDATION OF SPORT CLASSES In the case of insufficient number of athletes participating in a sport class consolidation of classes shall be made as follows: K41 K42 K42 K43 K43 K44 An athlete that is consolidated into a higher Sport Class will be given the gold medal and Para Taekwondo World Ranking points as the winner of his/her sport class. The athlete will then have to compete for additional medals and ranking points in the higher Sport Class.

However, that was not to be, and 2020 was a year that brought many disappointments and uncertainties to our Members and athletes. The IWAS World Games 2020 due to be held in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand was set to be a tremendous success and the biggest IWAS Games ever! With thirteen sports on the programme, some of which making their debut at an IWAS Games, the excitement for the event was felt across the Membership. Unfortunately, this event was the first of many casualties of the disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. The disruption was also felt by the IWAS Sports. IWAS Wheelchair Fencing hosted the only competition of the year in Eger, Hungary in February 2020 while IWAS Powerchair Hockey also began 2020 with a success at the IPCH Euro Stars 2020 Tournament held in Lignano Sabbiadoro, Italy.
