Committee working methods The Committee considered this matter. Ordered, That the public be admitted during the examination of witnesses unless the Committee orders otherwise. Resolved, That witnesses who submit written evidence to the Committee are authorised to publish it on their own account in accordance with Standing Order No. 135, subject always to the discretion of the Chair or where the Committee orders otherwise. Resolved, That the Committee shall not consider individual cases. Resolved, That the Committee approves the use of electronic equipment by Members and staff during public and private meetings, provided that they are used in accordance with the rules and customs of the House. 3. Future programme The Committee considered this matter. 1 Mr Clive Betts was elected as the Chair of the Committee on 17 June 2015, in accordance with Standing Order No. 122B (see House of Commons Votes and Proceedings, 17 June 2015).     What an amazing year it has been! Thanks to the support I have received from many people in becoming the MP for Thirsk and Malton, I feel I have already managed to get fully involved in the issues that impact our daily lives in North Yorkshire. In Parliament there are matters of both international and national importance to debate and decide upon but I and my team are very focused on those things closer to home that are vital to maintaining and improving our work, home and leisure times. Foreign Affairs Thank you to those who responded to my questionnaire about military action in Syria. The increase in terrorist activity across the world from Islamic State is frightening. However the long day and evening in the House of Commons showed how open, frank, democratic debate is something we must be proud of. Wouldn't it be great if all countries and their people had the same political freedom? After careful consideration and in respect to the feeling of the constituents I stand by the Government's decision to act and I hope that a more peaceful and safer new year can be achieved through the combined work of the international community. The refugee crisis means many will be displaced from their homes this Christmas. The goodwill extended by European nations to those fleeing in fear will hopefully lead to positive and fair results for residents and migrants alike. Energy Keeping in contact with constituents, whether by questionnaires, newsletters, post or email, is vital for me to do my job properly.
