As the AJMI enters its third year of publication and has been placed in the ASEAN Citation Index (ACI), there is a lot to look forward to and for which to give thanks. I particularly note the consistently high quality contributions from our authors and I would like to offer a word of thanks to all our authors, readers, peer reviewers, and our editorial board for your support of the journal. In this issue (V3N2), we are pleased to publish twelve selected papers focusing on a diversity of themes - business and public management, banking and finance, accounting and education. These papers explore issues such as the process flow of after sales service in a telecommunication business in Thailand, strategic audit expertise orientation and audit success, the financial performance of Thailand’s banking sectors. and modern cost management innovation and firm performance. Other interesting papers explore the understanding of Thai culture and the related impact and effect of academic stress on students’ learning orientation, the influence of gender on effective leadership, personnel practices of flight crew officers and their effective performance, public management working based on a qualitative assessment study, and a casual factor study influenced to organizational commitment of generation Y working in the energy business and public utility in Thailand. One article explores the question: “Do factors of age and gender affect accounting anxiety?” and examines this issue by focusing on ESL students studying at an International University. As always, the success of this journal is built on the efforts of all the authors, reviewers, editors and the AJMI staff. Today, these support system do not meet the requirements of service providers. Lack of process management facilities results in inefficient and inflexible processes. Further, there are inherent limitations to integrating customer requirements into provider support systems. This research discusses the operational challenges that service providers face in eliciting requirements from customers and collecting that information in an organized manner. This paper use qualitative research as the basis for building a template form called “Service Standard Requirements” which can be used to structure the customer requirements process. In addition, service providers are trying to differentiate themselves by rolling out new services such as

    Study Report on Situation of Home-based Workers’ Groups in Urban Areas and Target Groups under the Inclusive Urban Planning Project Submitted to Homenet South Asia Compiled by Foundation for Labour and Employment Promotion October 2010 Study Report on Home-based Workers’ Groups in Urban Areas October 2010 1 1. Background Home-based workers (HBWs)1 are generally poor, receiving low wages or income and working long hours, thus earning inadequate income to support their household expenses. These workers live in slum communities2 scattered in urban or suburban areas. As a result, it is difficult for them to organize. Their presence is virtually non-existent, not known or socially recognized, and not economically valued as a group of workers that contribute to the urban and national economy. Thus these HBWs have no participatory role in their local or community development planning. The Inclusive Urban Planning (IUP) Project is developed to build up and strengthen the capacity of HBW’s groups by supporting their organization in the form of membership- based organizations (MBOs)3. MBOs will act as representatives of the HBWs in presenting their problems and needs to government agencies so that these workers will be given a chance to participate in the urban planning process, which is suitable for their needs. This five-year Project (2009-2013) is carried out by Homenet Thailand and its collaborating non-governmental organizations. Homenet Thailand (HNT) was established in 1992 and registered as the Foundation for Labor and Employment Promotion in 2003. The Project’s major operation areas are Bangkok, Chiang Rai and Khon Kaen provinces.

Spatial density measures are an important tool for future healthcare planning, particularly in Northeast Thailand where the ageing population has rapidly increased for a decade. The objective of this study was to determine the relationship of geographic and elderly population density in Chiang Yuen district, Mahasarakham province, to ascertain suitable areas for elderly healthcare centres. The data of the elderly located in the villages were collected by the Global Position System (GPS) using Kernel density method to employ the analysis of population density, and GIS for healthcare mapping, and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) as multiple criteria decision-making tools. Factors were determined by using the overlay analysis method, where social, physical and economic factors were variables of interest that were used for the analysis of suitable areas for Elderly Healthcare Centres. The results revealed that the spatial density of the elderly population could be divided into four levels: Low density for the agriculture areas, medium density for agricultural areas including small villages.

    Chapter 5 Situation of Thai Traditional Medical Knowledge Protection in Thailand The move for the protection of Thai traditional medical (TTM) knowledge or wisdom is the transformation of the policy on TTM wisdom protection and promotion into action in a concrete manner. Since the enactment of the Protection and Promotion of Thai Traditional Medical Knowledge Act, B.E. 2542 (1999), or 1999 TTM Knowledge Protection Act, the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine (DTAM, formerly known as Department for Development of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine), has been the lead agency in the conservation, protection and monitoring of TTM wisdom, herbs or medicinal Chapter plants, and their origins or habitats at the local, national and international levels. Outline of the ODA Loan Assistance Map of the project site Project target road (Don Sak-Sichon section in Surat Thani) 1.1 Background In Thailand, transport falls into five major areas: road transport, railway transport, maritime transport, inland water transport and air transport. Road transport plays an important role in the Thai transport system. For example, the share of road transport of the total cargo transport volume of all transport systems (ton-km base) in 1998 was 90.9%. Although the main trunk highways in Thailand were well developed and its pavement ratio was 97.9% in 1999, expansion of traffic capacity for existing roads was an important issue as traffic volume increased year by year. Likewise, there was a remarkable increase in traffic volume in regional areas, and the lack of capacity of roads was creating a bottleneck in the smooth transport of domestic cargo. With this background, the First Phase of the Four-Lane Highway Widening Project (target length: 1,891km) was planned in 1993 as a development plan for the main trunk highways. This Four-Lane Highway Widening Project was given the highest priority in road sector development as well as priority budget allocation among road rehabilitation projects. In addition, the Second Phase of the Four-Lane Highway Widening Project (target length: 4,638km) was established in 1995, and the improvement of the major two-lane national highways to four-lane roads was further promoted.

In the new product development process, the concept development (product idea, product concept and product image) and testing are important steps prior to making decision on commercialization. This research aims to explore the new ideas in developing the innovative products using new raw material, Organic Rice, as an ingredient. It also investigates the new product concept acceptance and attitude of consumers on the new Organic Rice products in Thailand. This research applied the mixed research methods: qualitative research (literature review and in-depth interviews with 15 certified Organic agricultural manufacturers and processors) and quantitative research (field survey with 213 respondents). The results from qualitative content analysis included the clear details of new product concept development and the relevant target markets for the Organic Rice snack bar and the extracted Organic Rice facial press-powder products. Further, the quantitative research using the questionnaire survey was conducted to test the consumer’s new product acceptance and attitudes on both Organic Rice products. Using SPSS program, the results showed the positive product acceptance of Organic Rice snack bar products with sweetened plant ingredients, rather than using sugar, with reasonable price.
