UNESCO member countries can now access US$20,000 to use for Education Programs focusing on Youths and Sport Development, Mentoring and Capacity development, and assistance with Policy advice in line with the World Anti‐Doping Code. RADO’s can also apply for US$50,000 for the same purpose. To access the funds, Governments must have ratified the UNESCO International Convention against Doping in Sport. So far, only six countries in Oceania have done this (Australia, New Zealand, Cook Islands, Samoa, Nauru, Palau). Ratification involves a 2‐step process. Step 1: Sign the Copenhagen Declaration which recognizes the World Anti‐Doping Code and supports the work of WADA (World Anti‐Doping Agency). Most countries in Oceania have complied with the exception of the Marshall Islands. Step 2: Ratify the Convention so that governments can align their domestic policies with the World Anti‐Doping Code. To become a party to the Convention, contact your Foreign Affairs Ministry or the Department which is responsible for international relations within your government or the UNESCO National Commission.
