Ive looked around a lot and found that this out-of-print set of books is getting harder and harder to find. I have seen lower prices than the price I paid, but not for the same Like New condition. As far as could tell, the copy I received was displayed but probably never opened.Now the set itself: This is the only set that focuses on the Beatles post-breakup and gives each Beatle his own book. Each book is roughly the same size, so clearly the McCartney book is not comprehensive and theres a little stretching involved in covering Ringo. But to me there is adequate justification for each. Ringo worked with the other Beatles post-break up far more than any of the others, so giving better coverage to Ringo also provides further context for the others. Also if there were ever a musician who deserves more recognition and respect than Ringo. As for McCartney, there is plenty about him available elsewhere, including an exhaustive, if somewhat out of date, authorised biography. From his earliest work in the late 1970s with his bands The Boys Next Door and The Birthday Party up to his most recent releases with long- time collaborators The Bad Seeds, it appears that he is intent on spreading some sort of message. This essay charts how Cave’s songs, which as Robert Eaglestone notes take religion as ‘a primary discourse that structures and shapes others’,2 consistently use the blues as a platform from which to deliver his dispatches.     I The Atlas | 2018 II Letter from the Editors-in-Chief Dear Reader, This was a year of records and firsts for The Atlas. For the first time ever, we opened submissions to universities from across Canada. We are very proud to be able to publish the work of students from outside the University of British Columbia for the very first time. We hope this is the start of a rich tradition of academic exchange with partner universities from across the country. This year, we also received a record number of submissions of very high quality, making our selection process especially difficult. Our editorial board worked tirelessly to select and edit papers. Many hours have been spent refining the six papers which follow. This year also saw The Atlas receive external sponsorship for the first ever time. We are extremely thankful to the Jewish Museum and Archives of British Columbia for supporting undergraduate research. We are also very grateful to our faculty reviewers who sent us thoughtful and helpful assessments of our shortlisted papers. Furthermore, we would like to thank all of those who submitted to The Atlas. There were many outstanding papers this year, and we would like to recognize the hard work and passion that went into researching these papers. Finally, we would like to thank the authors published in this year’s edition. We are very proud to be able to provide a platform for high-quality, original research by some of Canada’s brightest undergraduate students. We hope you enjoy reading this year’s edition as much as we enjoyed putting it together.
