Some Facts About the Alexandrine Ch~istology V. C. SAMUEL Modern N estorian studies have had a number of significant consequences for our understanding of the fifth-century Christo logical controversies. For one thing, it has led a number of scholars in the present century to show an unprecedented ap preciation for the theological position associated with the name of N estorius. Though the study of the documents connected with the teaching of the N estorian, or the Antiochene; school helped this movement, the ground had been prepared for it by modern Liberalism. Traceable to Schleiermacher and Ritschl, it had left no room for a conception pf our Lord which does not see Him first and foremost as a man. Against this intellectual background of the modern theologian the N estorian studies disclosed the fact that the teaching of that ancient school of theological thinking also emphasized the full humanity of our Lord. Naturally, many in our times have been drawn to appraise it favourably, From this appreciation for the Nestorian school many have gone a step further in offering an added defence of the doctrinal formula adopted by the Council of Chalcedon in 451. One of the ablest presentations of this point of view in recent times may be found in W. Norman Pittenger's book, The Word Incarnate, published in 1959 by Harper and Brothers, New York, for 'The Library of Constructive Theology·. An eminent Pro fessor at the General Theological Seminary in New York, Dr. Pittenger is one of the top-level theologians of the American con tinent. -

Envisioned as a false-messiah, deceptive miracle-worker, and prophet of evil, Antichrist inversely embodies many of the qualities and characteristics associated with Max Weber’s concept of charisma. This essay explores early Christian, medieval, and contemporary depictions of Antichrist and the imagined political circumstances of his reign as manifesting the notion of (anti)charisma, compelling but misleading charismatic political and religious leadership oriented toward damnation rather than redemption. We continue on with the discussion we began last time about the two natures in the one Person of Jesus Christ. We saw plentiful Biblical evidence and proof that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. This confuses some, especially non-Christians in religions that deny the deity of Christ. I wonder if they think that by “fully” we mean in some form of measurement, as though they liken what we are saying to a bowl being full of food and full of dirt at the same time. It isn’t possible for the same space to be filled with two different substances at the same time, so perhaps they think we are saying something that is against reason. But that isn’t what we mean when we say He is fully God and fully man at the same time. We mean that Jesus Christ has a nature that is God in that everything that it takes and means to be God, He has. He also has a nature in His Person that is human in that everything that it takes and means to be human, He has. In order for this to happen, God the Second Person of the Trinity added a human nature to Himself that consists of a true human physical body and a human soul with intellect, will, and emotions. That doesn’t make Him half God and half man; He still is fully God by virtue of having the fully divine nature with all of the attributes of God intact, none missing. -

Palacios, \Naming Ableism" Abstract Many of the Church's leading theologians have struggled with how indi- viduals with disabilities could be perfectly united to God in the afterlife. For some, union with God requires that individuals with disabilities will have those disabilities `cures' or `healed' prior to heavenly union with God. Others have suggested that certain profound disabilities preclude an individual's ability to have such union, thus suggesting, even if only implicitly, that such individuals have no eschatological place in the Body of Christ. In the present paper, I develop and consider an argument for the possibility of individuals retaining their disabilities in the eschaton and nevertheless enjoying complete union with God (and through God to others).
