Disney Channel Launches The Local Music Album Of In India

Mumbai, November 11, 2008: and Universal Music released the music of the much anticipated Disney Channel Original Movie (DCOM) - Camp Rock. The soundtrack includes 12 songs sung by talented group of young singers such as Aasma, Sunidhi Chauhan, Jimmi Felix, Vasudha, Sangeet Haldipur, Nitin Mohan and Marianne D'Cruz. Directed by John Stewart, the album includes three re-created songs in Hindi with Indian instruments while nine others are re-recorded in Hindi. While the Disney’s Camp Rock soundtrack embodies everything unique and inspiring, the re-created tracks bring in local elements to give the music enthusiast an opportunity to experience the songs with a complete Indian flavour.

The title track ‘We Rock’ sung by the versatile singer Sunidhi Chauhan and music band Aasma mirrors the inspirational theme of the movie. The second re-created version, ‘Hasta La Vista’ sung by Jimmi Felix and Vasudha is a complete Bollywood style track with bhangra beats, hip hop and electric guitar. This song celebrates the true essence of team spirit and adds an extra zing to the album. The duet sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and Sangeeta Haldipur, ‘Khush Hoon Main’ (Original title: This is me) captures the path of self discovery and enthuses self belief. The themes of Camp Rock– believe in yourself, express yourself and stay true to yourself is carried through the lyrics specially written for the album. Available in all modern retail and music outlets across key metros, the album is priced at Rs.195.

While Disney’s Camp Rock will debut in India in December this year. Ratings of its premiere in the US were stellar; this Disney TV movie kicked off an unprecedented weekend premiere event, becoming cable’s most-watched entertainment telecast of 2007/08, and ranked No. 1 Overall in Tweens 9-14. Peaking with nearly 10 million viewers in its final half-hour, Disney’s “Camp Rock” gained 2 Million, start-to-finish! Since premiering in the US and Canada on June 20, 2008, Camp Rock has reached over 48.3 million unduplicated viewers worldwide.
