Snowmobiler TV visits New Brunswick One of Canada’s most watched specialty shows, Snowmobiler TV recently joined the NBFSC for three days of filming, photography and story gathering about New Brunswick’s White Gold. Snowmobiler TV is the media sister to another very popular sledding source of information, Snow Goer Canada magazine. During Snowmobiler TV’s visit they assisted us as we hosted the NBFSC’s annual “Go Snowmobiling Ride” with Premier Alward. (See separate What’s New article .) Snowmobiler TV had a wonderful opportunity to see the relationship between the NBFSC and our provincial government. Future segments will include interviews with Premier Alward and Tourism & Parks Minister, Hon. Trevor Holder as well as Minister Robert Trevors – DPS, Minister Bruce Fitch - Local Government, Minister Claude Williams – DOT and Minister Blaine Higgs – Finance. Also interviewed were the NBFSC’s “Go Snowmobiling” partners, Chris Thebeau of Arctic Cat, Rick Lingley of BRP-Ski Doo and Pat Hicks of Yamaha Motor Canada. For day two and three of their visit we were the guests of the Auberge Atlantic Host Inn and Keith DeGrace. Keith was also interviewed by Snowmobiler TV telling the story of how he got started and how important the snowmobile industry is to his business, Bathurst and New Brunswick, every winter. The Bathurst region trails, specifically NBFSC Club Motoneige Chaleur and Nepisiguit Sports Lodge were the carpet of White Gold for our two days in Bathurst with Snowmobiler TV. We visited and filmed at the Nepisiguit Sports Lodge, Rogers Lake Lodge, Governor’s Wilderness Lodge, and various club warming shelters, Chaleur Snowmobile Clubhouse, Auberge Resources Inn and the Island Lake Camps. Mark Lang, proprietor and creator of Snowmobiler TV accompanied us on the entire trip. We have known Mark and his team for many years and are pleased to have been able to host him for his first experience in New Brunswick. We and Mark would also like to thank Tourism & Parks for their assistance in making all this occur. For the ultimate look into the great sport of snowmobiling, nothing does it better than Snowmobiler TV. Having toured just about everywhere snow falls and sleds can ride, the STV cameras showcase the full gamut of what sledding has to offer. Go Snowmobiling’ Award for 2012
NBFSC wins Canadian ‘Go Snowmobiling’ Award for 2012 At the 44 th International Snowmobile Congress the New Brunswick Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (NBFSC) was recognized and awarded as the Canadian winner of the “Go Snowmobiling, Take a Friend “campaign for 2012. All Provinces in Canada and States in the USA were eligible to win respective national awards. The NBFSC were awarded as the best in Canada because of “their total integration of the Go Snowmobiling lifestyle into all aspects of organized snowmobiling in New Brunswick”, announced Ed Klim, President of the International Snowmobiler Manufacturers Association (ISMA) to the Congress’ 500 delegates from Canada, United States, Sweden and Russia. “Go Snowmobiling ” is the brainchild of ISMA and first began in 2008. New Brunswick has participated in and integrated the program into our communications from the very beginning; We have “ Gone Snowmobiling” ever since. In 2008 we partnered with the City of Bathurst’s Tourism Department, Meredith Caissie and local Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), Brian Kenny to host our very first “Go Snowmobiling” Ride in New Brunswick. We spent an entire day, beginning with a local breakfast, greetings and a welcome from Bathurst Mayor Stephen Brunet and MLA, Brian Kenny. The Hon. Roland Hache’, Minister of Environment for New Brunswick joined us to ride Bathurst’s snowmobile trails with many community dignitaries that afternoon as we promoted the new message. Dear Premier Higgs, Let us begin by first offering our sincere thanks for your strong leadership throughout the current Covid-19 crisis that we are collectively faced with as Canadians. We are grateful and inspired by the commitment and collaboration shown across governments and throughout our communities. Everyone is doing their part and going above and beyond to ensure that New Brunswick comes through this in a way that strengthens us as people and a province. There have been many articles, theories and roadmaps for recovery from Covid-19 and, at times, it is overwhelming. There is no playbook to draw from and the task ahead daunting. Over the past four weeks, a number of leaders representing businesses, not-for-profit and the immigration sector have been meeting weekly to share information, support each other and think about: How can we collaborate to best contribute in a meaningful way that is helpful to government? Through our learning and discovery as a group, we looked at the way forward as having three phases: 1. Response – The government and communities’ response has been nothing short of amazing! We are so encouraged and grateful for the leadership and rapid response that has led New Brunswick’s risk level to be minimal. This has set us up to deal with the crisis effectively and to minimize the impact on New Brunswickers.

Lorna Brown, 647- 4850, [email protected] Superhero movies always do well. We all know the fantastic exploits and costumes of characters from the Marvel Universe and the X-Men Franchise. And despite being overshadowed recently by these newer kids on the block, Superman is someone we still immediately recognize in his tights and cape. We are drawn to the escapism of these fantastic stories. But it’s possible for you to be a superhero in real life. On September 14th, you can put on your tights and cape and be a superhero for democracy: you can VOTE. Your vote is your voice, and your voice matters. It is how you say what you want to see happen in your community and your province. And when enough of us raise our voices in the same way, we get to choose the person who will represent us. In our priority neighbourhoods, too few are raising those precious individual voices to make a chorus that will be heard. But that’s how democracy works. It doesn’t work when you stay silent. We have recently heard the sudden power of collective voices in the Black Lives Matter movement. Yes, one person can make a difference – when you add one plus one plus one until there are dozens and hundreds and thousands. We can’t become the thousands without each of us making our one voice heard.

5 novembre 2018 – Telegraph Journal What will Tory cabinet look like? ADAM HURAS LEGISLATURE BUREAU Andrea Anderson-Mason FREDERICTON • Who will be welcomed into Blaine Higgs’ inner circle? The premier- designate says he’s interviewed all of his Progressive Conservative caucus colleagues for potential cabinet roles. And now, five weeks after New Brunswickers voted in the Sept. 24 election, Higgs doesn’t want to waste any more time. He’s hoping his cabinet can be sworn into hand-picked positions as early as Thursday. “As far as us being ready, I have met with all of my colleagues in preparation for how a cabinet might be put together,” Higgs said.“We’ve done that. That’s one thing out of the way.” With 21 Progressive Conservative colleagues to choose from, we asked five political scientists who Higgs might pick. Sure bets Shippagan-Lamèque-Miscou MLA Robert Gauvin “I think that it might make sense for Higgs to make Robert Gauvin deputy premier and give him a high-profile department and a title, including something like minister responsible for francophone rights,” Jamie Gillies, political scientist at St. Thomas University, said. 5 novembre 2018 – Telegraph Journal “That might help Higgs and the PCs overcome a significant demographic problem with their caucus.” Gauvin checks so many boxes synonymous with cabinet considerations it’s nearly impossible to see how he wouldn’t be handed a big role. He’s the only Progressive Conservative francophone MLA and represents the only seat the party has in the north. Contrast that with Higgs, a unilingual anglophone for a riding in the province’s south, and Gauvin’s involvement becomes integral.
