  • Chinese-To-English Translation of Publicity on Chinese Minority Culture from Narrative Perspectives
Journal of Literature and Art Studies, August 2019, Vol. 9, No. 8, 897-906 doi: 10.17265/2159-5836/2019.08.012 D DAVID PUBLISHING Chinese-to-English Translation of Publicity on Chinese Minority Culture From Narrative Perspectives XIAO Tang-jin Guizhou Minzu University, Guiyang, China Narrative is a literary notion. In narrative translation theory, narrative involves personal narrative, public narrative, disciplinary narrative, and meta-narrative. This paper adopts the notions of personal narrative, public narrative, and meta-narrative to analyze specific cases concerning the Chinese-to-English translation on Chinese minority culture publicity, proposes two narrative translation models, namely, the annotation narrative translation model and the manipulative narrative translation model, and explores the concrete translation procedures and the embodied meta-narrative, covering introduction to minority tales, minority festivals, and minority customs. Narrative translation research is part of the multidisciplinary or interdisciplinary turn in the 21st century, and this research is an organic part of cross-cultural communication translatology. Keywords: narrative, Chinese-to-English translation, publicity on Chinese minority culture, model Foreword Cross-cultural communication translatology explores translation theories and practice from the perspectives of cross-cultural communication based on multiple disciplines. Thus, it shows interdisciplinary, intercultural and interlingual features (Xiao, 2018). This means that it is different from conventional approaches to translation in theory and practice, such as form equivalence and functional equivalence. Nowadays, narrative, an approach in literary studies, and sociology, a discipline which studies social structure, social mobility, and other social issues, are also adopted in translation studies. They are labeled as “interdisciplinary turn”, “sociological turn”, “power turn”, and other things alike.

ZooKeys 164: 24–40. doi: 10.3897/zookeys.164.2132 Abstract Seasogonia Young, 1986 is a sharpshooter genus with 13 species, four of them recorded from China. In this paper, S. sandaracata (Distant, 1908) is recorded as new for China and S. rufipenna Li & Wang, 1992 is regarded as a junior synonym of S. nigromaculata Kuoh, 1991. The morphological diversity of the female genitalia of Seasogonia is still poorly known. We provide herein detailed descriptions and illustrations of three Chinese Seasogonia species. Notes on the female genitalia of Seasogonia, including intraspecific and interspecific variation, and comparisons between the female genitalia of Seasogonia and of other related genera from China are provided. The preliminary results indicate that the female genitalia may provide useful features for the taxonomy of Seasogonia and other members of the Old World Cicadellini.

  • New Data for Isoxys of the Balang Fauna (Cambrian Stage 4), South China
New data for Isoxys of the Balang Fauna (Cambrian Stage 4), South China Shuai Liu, Jin Peng, Rongqin Wen & Boyan Liang Isoxys Walcott, 1890 is a large bivalved arthropod taxon, commonly occurring in the Cambrian Series 2–3. Here, we report on a new group of Isoxys from the Balang Fauna (Cambrian Stage 4) of Guizhou, South China. It is composed of five species:Isoxys acutangulus (Walcott, 1908), I. auritus (Jiang, 1982), I. jianheensis sp. nov., I. globulus sp. nov., and Isoxys sp. Isoxys first appeared in the Chengjiang Biota (Cambrian Stage 3) located in the shallow-water Yangtze Platform in Yunnan, South China, and ranged to the Guanshan Biota (Cambrian Stage 4) above the Chengjiang Biota. The Balang Fauna of Guizhou Province is located in the transitional slope area of the deeper-water environments and is equivalent to the Guanshan Biota in age. The discovery of Isoxys in the Balang Fauna suggests that the genus, originally present in the shallow platform of Yunnan, migrated eastward to the deeper water shelf of Guizhou during the early Cambrian (Stage 4), becoming suited to a new ecological environment. The Isoxys assemblage of the Balang Fauna not only adds new taxa record for this genus but also provides new information for its palaeoecology, evolution, and geographic distribution. • Key words: Isoxys, Balang Fauna, Balang Formation, Cambrian, Guizhou, South China. Based the analysis of the formation characteristics and drilling conditions in the Zhengan area, the technical issues of horizontal drilling improving in this area are explained, and based on speed-up and efficiency- increasing technologies such as the resigned high-efficiency PDC bit, high-torque&long-life motor, drilling parameter optimization, friction&torque monitoring, friction-reducing and torsion-reducing tools, near-bit geology steering technology, rotary steerable drilling technology and loss control and anti-collapse mud etc., solutions for the issues have been proposed. Through the application of related technologies, it is expected that improvements for the ROP of horizontal wells in the area and the drilling cycle will be made.
