Ragragio2 ABSTRACT Objectives: This study documented the species of medicinal plants used by Ayta communities in Dinalupihan, Bataan. The plant parts used for medicinal purposes, preparations, mode of administration of these medicinal plants were determined. The most important species based on use values and informant consensus factors were also calculated. Methods: A total of 26 informants were interviewed regarding the plants they utilize for medicinal purposes. Free and prior informed consents were obtained from the informants. Taxonomic identification was done in the Botany Division of the National Museum of the Philippines. Informant consensus factor (FIC) and use values (UV) were also calculated. Results: Ayta communities listed a total of 118 plant species classified into 49 families used as herbal medicines. The FamilyFabaceae was the most represented plant family with 11 species. Leaves were the most used plant part (43%). Majority of medicinal preparations were taken orally (57%). It was found that Psidium guajava L. and Lunasia amara Blanco were the most commonly used medicinal plants in the Ourlad Alzeus G. Tan- three communities with the use value of 0.814. Conclusion: This documentation provides tengco1*, Marlon Lian C. a catalog of useful plants of the Ayta and serves as a physical record of their culture for the 2 education of future Ayta generations.

    INCEPTION WORKSHOP FOR SOC DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION IN BATAAN BULWAGAN NG BAYAN II, PROVINCIAL CAPITOL, BALANGA CITY, BATAAN 25 JANUARY 2013 WORKSHOP REPORT 1. The inception workshop for the development and implementation of the SOC reporting system in Bataan was conducted on 25 January 2013 at the Bulwagan ng Bayan II, Provincial Capitol, Balanga City. The workshop specifically aimed to: 1) provide an overview of the ICM framework and process, and review the progress made in ICM implementation in Bataan; 2) discuss the benefits and importance of SOC in ICM program implementation; 3) discuss the processes of establishing the reporting system and development of SOC report; 4) clarify the roles and responsibilities of the SOC Task Team; 4) conduct initial assessment of data availability and sources, and 5) develop an action plan for the development of SOC report for Bataan. 2. The workshop was attended by representatives from 10 municipal/city LGUs (Abucay, Bagac, Balanga City, Dinalupihan, Limay, Mariveles, Orion, Orani, Samal and Pilar), provincial offices (Planning, Engineering, Tourism, Health, Environment, MIS and Agriculture) and national government agencies (DENR-PENRO, DENR Reg 3, Department of Agriculture, Philippine Coast Guard, Department of Education, Department of Public Works and Highways, Department of Science and Technology, National Statistics Office, Department of Trade and Industry, Philippine Ports Authority and Department of Interior and Local Government), the academe (BPSU, MAAP), private sector (BCCF, Petron, Total-Philippines and Philippine Resin) and civil society and people’s organizations (PFU). The outputs from the workshop included: 1) a preliminary assessment of data availability and data sources based on the requirements of the SOC, and 2) an action plan for the development of SOC report for Bataan.

    SCAD CORRIDOR CONCEPTUAL LAND USE PLAN FINAL REPORT JUNE 2009 SUBIC-CLARK ALLIANCE FOR DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL (SCADC) SCAD Corridor Conceptual Land Use Plan (SCoLUP) Final SCoLUP Report June 2009 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Keenly aware of the pressing need to capitalize on emerging local and international opportunities, the Subic-Clark Alliance for Development Council (the “SCADC“) embarked in late September 2008 on a framework and concept-level land use planning study for the 98,020-hectares (has.) SCAD Corridor (the “Corridor”) i.e. the SCAD Corridor Conceptual Land Use Plan (the “SCoLUP”). The Corridor is an approximately ten kilometer (10.0 km) wide swath with the Subic-Clark- Tarlac Expressway (SCTEx) at its center line. It runs the entire length of the SCTEx and is comprised of productive/ non-productive agricultural lands, minor forests and built-up areas. While the planning horizon considered is 25 years (2009-2033), the concept-level SCoLUP is intended to be dynamic and flexible enough to be modified as changes come about over the next several decades. 1. The Development Framework Z Development Plans Influencing the SCAD Corridor include: a) the Enhanced “W” Growth Corridor strategy for Central Luzon; b) Provincial Physical Framework Plans (“PPFPs”) of the 4 Corridor provinces; and c) Luzon Urban Beltway infrastructure projects; Z Applicable Development Concepts considered to transform the Corridor into a hub: a) expressways and high-speed motorways that improve access, stimulate commerce; b) supply chain management and logistics hubs, citing successful Asian models; c) Smart Growth with compact, self-contained settlements that avoid urban sprawl, preserve green areas and promote accessibility thru mass transport systems; and d) Green Corridors that define, preserve and sustain natural environments.

Casualties (TAB C) • As of 5:00AM, 12 August 2012 , a total of eighty-five (85) persons were reported dead : twelve (12) were victims of landslide, sixty-two (62) died due to drowning, two (2) died due to lightning, three (3) due to electrocution, three (3) due to heart attack / cardiac arrest, two (2) due to fallen trees and one (1) undetermined. • A total of ten (10) persons were injured of whom were victims of landslide, vehicular accident and snake bite. • A total of eight (8) persons are still missing while 62, 846 were rescued . 4. Status of Lifelines 1. Condition of Roads and Bridges (TAB D) • As of 05:00 AM, 12 August 2012 , a total of ten (10) roads and three (3) bridges are not passable to all types of vehicles in Regions I, III, IV-A, CAR and NCR due to flooding. • To date, all roads in Muntinlupa City, Tarlac City, Province of Laguna, Region VI and some roads in the City of Manila that were previously reported obstructed by flood are already passable to all types of vehicles. 2.     D. ENVIRONMENT AND NATURAL RESOURCES Bataan has a total land area of 137,296 hectares. Around 52.35% are alienable and disposable land and the rest comprises the forestland. The province had numerous rivers and small streams mostly cascading from Mt. Natib and Mt. Mariveles. Colo River in Dinalupihan and Pantingan- Tiawe River in Balanga City and Pilar are two of the main sources significantly discharging irrigation waters for agriculture. There are two (2) protected areas in the province; the Bataan Natural Park which has an area of 31,200 hectares covering portions of Hermosa, Morong, Orani, Samal, Abucay, Balanga City and Bagac. The other one is the Roosevelt Protected Landscape (786.4 hectares) located in the municipalities of Dinalupihan and Hermosa. The Subic Watershed, Mt. Natib Watershed, and Mariveles Watershed are the three main watershed groups in the province. More than a hundred rivers and small tributaries coming from these watershed areas drained the province that serve as irrigation, navigation fishing and water reservoir. Bataan as a peninsula is also rich in marine resources. Coastal marine waters support a dynamic ecosystem and contain valuable natural resources that are important to the coastal community. The coastal upland is composed of rocky hills, bush lands, grasslands and plantation forest found mostly in the areas of Mariveles and nearby localities. Several species of trees are present in the forest areas of Bataan such as Mahogany, Gmelina, Narra, Teak, A. Auricoliformis, Molave, Lauaan, Guijo, Eucalyptus and many others. Minor forest products are rattan, bamboo, buho, and hingiw. Bataan has more or less 140.51 hectares of mangrove forest that are located in Orani, Samal, Abucay, Balanga City, Orion, Pilar and Limay along the Manila Bay Area.
