The final margin came in the fourth quarter when the Golden Tigers used a four play drive, covering 27 yards to get on the board. After leaving the game for a play, Lacey came back on and hit Leo Gilbert for a 10-yard touchdown and the 26-0 lead. Individually, the Golden Tigers were led on the ground by Lacey with 41 yards on five carries, while Branden Wilson had 35 yards on just one carry and Dennis Norfleet finished 27 yards on seven carries. Through the air, Lacey finished 11-of-24 for 174 yards and one interception. The receiving corps had several guys with multiple receptions, led by Marquel Gardner with three receptions for 39 yards.

The second big play occurred at the beginning of the second quarter as Albany State SACKS: TUSKEGEE - Thompson 1-13, Adams 1-10, George 1-3, Morgan 1-9. ALBANY STATE lined up for a field goal. The ball was blocked by Devonta Ramseur and picked up Jewell - Washington 1-1, Phillps 1-4, Shing 1-9 Ratliff, and the senior outran the Golden Rams for a 73-yard return and a 14-0 lead with 12:00 remaining in the first half. TACKLES (UA-A-TT): TUSKEGEE - Ratliff 8-7-15, Thompson 8-3-11, Ramseur 4-3-7, Cuff 4-1-5. ALBANY STATE - Abd Al-Qa 1-5-6, Washington 2-3-5, Svott 3-0-3, Selby 3-0-3. Albany State was able to break through for a couple of touchdowns in the first half against the Tuskegee defense who recorded a shutout in the opener. The Golden Rams scored early in the second quarter, ending the streak of 82:12 of scoreless football for Tuskegee.

“At that point we were getting on each other,” Thompson said. “We just said somebody has to make a play and we had to get back to playing our type of football. We had to get things right and kept fighting.”

And keep fighting is exactly what they did, all the way to the end.

The game ended much like it began, a big play. Ratliff intercepted the pass on the final play of the game and hit the deck as the clock expired.

Lacey led the way for Tuskegee with 78 yards on the ground, on just nine carries, and completed 13 of his 26 passes for 151 yards and a touchdown. Norfleet finished the day with 52 yards on eight carries and added a 24-yard scoring strike through the air. Desmond Reece led all receivers with three catches for 38 yards, while three others each picked up a pair.

The Thorobreds took advantage of a fumble by Tuskegee, driving down the field using a 34-yard run by Reginald Johnson that set up another touchdown. Kentucky State tied the game up with 7:02 to play in the half, when Johnson connected with Lavelle Cloyd on a screen that covered six yards that tied the game at 14-all.
