SITUATION East Tytherton is a charming hamlet located on a minor road in a valley some 2.7 miles (4.3 km) northeast of Chippenham and a similar distance northwest of Calne.[1] From Chippenham there is a mainline railway service to London Paddington (circa 75 minutes). The M4 is about 6 miles away giving access to the major centres. The surrounding countryside offers many footpaths and bridleways and the River Avon nearby is popular for fishing.
