Thankfully our publication has begun to be more settled although we are aware that we still make mistakes. It has been pointed out to us that we have stated, in the past, that we want one off articles of only 300 words but have continued to print articles which are much longer. We have discussed this at our recent committee meeting and have decided 300 words is too prescriptive and would reduce the interest value of many of the articles. However the editors may tactfully ask you to reduce your offering if it is too wordy. This includes the editorial! Most of us are aware of the amount and nature of traffic on our roads. Although I have my own views on this subject, it is not for me to exercise them in the Newsletter but ask you to let us know your views. You will all have differing opinions depending on whether you use the roads as a farmer, horse rider, commuter, shopper, cyclist, pedestrian, or parish councillor. I would like you to let us know how you feel, including any practical solutions, which might be used to solve the problems, as you see them. We will collate them and print some representative views in the Newsletter anonymously. Please sock it to us using [email protected] Don't forget that all articles, ads and entries must be with the editors by the 13 of every month. It takes about a week to put everything together and another week to print. This leaves very little time to get it to you before the end of the month. We apologise that we did not get it to you before the beginning of January. If you receive your Newsletter more than one week after the beginning of each month or you know of people who do not receive one at all, please let us know. We cannot change things unless you tell us. Enough practice, and we will avoid some common mistakes in the future. Ceri Cryer, from Brinkworth Dairy will be with us on Thursday February 20. She is the fifth generation cheese maker in her farming family. Juggling a young family and work, she was determined to diversify the farm’s activities from solely dairy, to produce award winning cheese. This is sure to be a very interesting evening. C S A F Due to the rather hostile wind and rain on Monday 23 December, the merry band of carol singers that usually entertain parts of Foxham and West End for "The Doorway" charity in Chippenham, which helps the homeless in the area, had to make the decision to call off this year’s event. The P.C.C. did not want to let this charity down so they have given part of the collection at the Christmas Morning Service. Happily a cheque for £100 has been delivered to the local Doorway office. David Wilton A L T Y F T L C!!!! You may have noticed/heard that I have recently been unwell - unwell enough in fact to justify some days in the Great Western Hospital in Swindon just after Christmas. You won’t want to be bored with the details but sufficient to say that the marvellous people at the Great Western diagnosed “fluid retention” as the cause of my problems and proceeded to administer the correct medication – putting me back on the road to recovery! The purpose of this little note is to thank all the MANY people who have sent good wishes for a speedy return to health and also offers of practical help such as transport to shops, Doctors or hospital. Many of these kind offers have been/are being/will be taken up. Judy and I have been overwhelmed by your generosity!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
