I would like to wish all players, from the county XV to those playing for grassroots clubs across Gloucestershire, the very best of luck and to express sincere appreciation to all those working so hard to ensure they have the opportunity to train and play. I know that hosting Rugby World Cup 2015 was a great boost for the game and I would like to thank everyone for contributing to its legacy. The Trophy Tour throughout the county, Filton and Hartpury College being Official Team Bases and Kingsholm hosting four pool matches, brought great opportunities to put rugby in the spotlight and attract more players and supporters. The great Gloucestershire hospitality kicked in and I would like to thank everyone in clubs and schools and Gloucestershire RFU for welcoming the world and those new to our game. A big thank you to all our excellent coaches and match officials for their continuing dedication and those tending the pitches in all weathers I do hope that you all enjoy this new season.. K Andrews delivered the report, main points detailed below: ENGLAND SUCCESS In addition to the Men’s Senior successes this season in the autumn internationals and winning the Six Nations Championship, the Women’s Red Roses team winning their Six Nations Grand Slam and the U20’s also winning their Grand Slam the teams have gone on to major success this summer. The Red Roses secured a clean sweep of wins at the International Women’s Rugby Series in New Zealand, beating Australia, Canada and the hosts in the final game. The tour has been excellent preparation for the team as they look ahead to the Women's Rugby World Cup in Ireland in August The Men’s senior team, missing 30 players either on the British and Irish Lions tour or through injury, sealed an impressive 2-0 series victory in Argentina. It also provided Eddie Jones the opportunity, with one eye on 2019, to cap 11 new players in the process.

In the absence of any Second XI cricket and the One Day Cup competition, the Bob Willis Trophy reports have been expanded to include a write up for each day’s play as well as the full scorecards. Sadly all fixtures were played behind closed doors so hopefully these extended reports will enable readers to get the feeling of actually being at the game! In addition, the Somerset Women’s team reports plus the Boys and Girls Pathway write ups are included in the first half of the book as they now come under the remit of Somerset CCC rather than the Somerset Cricket Board.

Using the heiresses of the earldoms and honours of Chester, Pembroke, Leicester and Winchester as case studies, this thesis sheds light on the processes of female inheritance and the effects of coparceny in a turbulent period of English history. The lives of the heiresses featured in this thesis span the reigns of three English kings: John, Henry III and Edward I. The reigns of John and Henry saw bitter civil wars, whilst Edward’s was plagued with expensive foreign wars.

  • Edition 10: 20Th September 2013
Edition 10: 20th September 2013 Rugby World Cup 2015 Lead Up and Legacy Activity The RFU launched the seven strands of its national Lead up and Legacy plan on October 31st 2012. The aim of this is to set out an overall framework against which national resource will be invested in the lead up to RWC 2015 with the aim of increasing interest and participation in the game. Whilst many Clubs, CBs, Schools, Colleges, Universities and other bodies are working hard to develop local projects to meet identified local need these seven strands are areas in which we will invest national resource to create change in Rugby communities across the country. It is hoped that those delivery bodies that have not yet identified their focus will focus in on these areas and take action to improve provision and opportunities against these themes. Six Regional Activation and Legacy Groups are now up and running and are working to add value to the seven strands and to engage partners from outside of the immediate rugby community in supporting the efforts of those within it. Each group is populated by representatives from CBs and from the wider community. Attached as an appendix to this CB update is a brief overview of progress against the seven strands along with listings of clubs/projects etc involved to date – this will be updated for each issue. In addition to the work against the seven strands strong working relationships have been established with England Rugby 2015, the Organising Body for the tournament itself, and an update on relevant areas are also included in the appendix.
